𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗢𝗙𝗙?

One Field Fallow is a queer-run collective and space, located at Onderrichtsstraat 60, 1000 Brussels. Sprouted from a disused night shop, OFF serves as a space for political organising, weird (artistic) research, knowledge sharing, and community building. 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
Our name derives from the 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺, a medieval strategy to increase land fertility through crop rotation and lying fallow. Inspired by the medieval query to combine increased productivity with sustainability through the structural implementation of rest, OFF translated the three field system into its own internal operational structure.

1. SOWING manages the financial and administrative side of OFF. For example: managing the budgets, administration, formalizing the organization structure and workflow. 2. HARVESTING cares for the vacant night shop where our activities take place, and the communication of activities organized by and/or taking place in OFF. 3. FALLOWING provides ground for resting and builds in breaks structurally. Whoever chooses to fallow is not obligated to do anything. Members that are fallowing are resting. OFF’s interpretation of the three field system protects the collective for ego projects and unnecessary hierarchy. Every month, each member chooses to work in a field. Each field has different roles that members can choose from. Each role comes with a script. This way, tasks are not in the hands of the same member and power is distributed. Simultaneously, we see scripting as a method to engage ourselves in trying to make OFF as accessible as possible for new members to join. 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲!

OFF opens its space for others, to use it according to their needs. This way, OFF attempts to provide an answer to the lack of non-consumption-centered spaces for political and community organizing and/or weird (artistic) research. Events can be oriented towards a specific occasion or more regularly.

On May 9th at @onefieldfallow , we’ll be putting on our archival coats for you, sharing all our love letters secrets and hoping for yours 📝 Bring the love* letters you’ve been reading non-stop, the sticky note you left your friend on the fridge, the fan mail you wrote, your favourite lyrics-as-love-letters, the voice-notes to your roommate, the queer correspondences under your bed from over a thousand years ago… we would like our archive to grow with contributions and references from you! Can be in the shape of a book or letter and we scan it on the spot, a photo to send to us, a copy or also a donation of the original version. Come to ask a question to the oracle of love letters 🎯 and help us tend our tender archive of queer love, friendship and appreciation letters. Or just browse through our collection and share a drink with us.  x, office

*Below Above Beyond – Gathering n°1* Come and join us on Sunday afternoon, 19 of April at @onefieldfallow for a moment of knowledge exchanges, mapping and presentation of research and readings ! This gathering is an occasion to share our ongoing process organizing a one day micro-festival with workshops, screenings and live music (planned in July at Zot la Cantine). This DIY event is an alternative to raise money to pay the invited artists. In times of crisis and cultural funds cut, we aim to create ways to financially support the creative process we decide to invest ourselves in. For this you are invited to come take part in a collective mapping of the cultural landscape of Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles @parlementf , listen to some readings by members of the collective and friends, discover our zine printed with some messy techniques and get some of the merch we prepared con amor 💛 On the programme: * 16h - Interactive presentation and collective mapping of the cultural landscape in Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles based on a research by Luz, l'écosystème de la FWB. (possibility to get the map afterwards) *18h - Sharings and readings by Billy, Cris, Sofia, Lorena @sofiafiafiaso @cris__e_f @xttttie Around and in between: * vente à la bâche of our merch 🎀 * cookies & snacks 🍪 * space to hang out and chat 🧩 If by any inconvenience you can not come and would like to contribute, you can also send money to any of the organisers or buy some our merch in our "vente sauvage moments" in the center of brussels in the weekends or just text us and we can drop it to you ! 🚲
