This year's Five Peaks Challenge marks SIX years of Olly’s Future national suicide prevention charity in memory of a wonderful young man from Worthing – Oliver (Olly) Hare. Every single penny raised will support our suicide prevention work. This includes delivering training to equip people with the skills to spot the signs in someone who may be thinking of suicide and have a conversation that could help save their life. To date more than 10,000 people worldwide have had this training. With your support, we can deliver this to even more people. Help a very worthwhile cause and do something great for your own wellbeing too!
There are two challenges. The Big One (17 miles) and The Short One (6 miles) so there is something for everyone.
If you aren't able to take part, please consider sponsoring a person taking the challenge or make a donation to support the work we do. Every penny can make a difference in the lives of young people at risk from suicide. You can find donation links on our website or in our bio.

Louise Howard, a leading nurse educator, and Ann Feloy of Olly's Future, are on a mission to embed suicide prevention skills and wellbeing techniques as part of every future nurses degree course.
Today they presented, along with other nurse educators from universities and practice, to an audience of delegates from across the UK at the Royal College of Nursing education conference at Exeter University. Their speech: 'Talking about suicide - introducing tools to support nursing students to have courageous and compassionate conversations'.
Prof. Nicola Ranger, General Secretary and Chief Executive, RCN, in her inspiring introductory keynote speech, recognised concerns around the wellbeing of student nurses which resonated with the Olly's Future's work with @kingstonuniversity .
Acclaimed actress, presenter, author and humanitarian Baroness Floella Benjamin @baronessfloellabenjamin in an inspiring keynote speech 'Facing adversity with a smile', described nurses as 'guardian angels'. She advocates positive attitudes, such as Consideration, Contentment, Confidence and Courage.
For the past two years, over 700 student nurses at Kingston University, where Louise is based, have received Olly's Future training. Louise said: "It's vital student nurses learn skills to ensure they can talk about suicide with confidence and competence. It's our shared mission to inspire all student nurses to keep their own wellbeing at the forefront of their work, to provide the best possible care to themselves and their future patients."
Of real concern is that female nurses have a 23% higher rate of suicide than the general population.
Ann added: "Our vision is to create an enlightened compassionate nursing profession where suicides among staff are reduced and where conversations with patients around thoughts of suicide are not 'missed, dismissed or avoided'."
Dr SAMS (Suicide Awareness in Medical Students/Services) is already delivered at medical schools across the UK and is now being taught at other universities to students nurses and paramedics.
For more information you can contact Ann at .uk
Ann Feloy, our founder and CEO, will be speaking at the National Suicide & Crisis Prevention Conference on 22nd April.

Worthing RFC are honoured to have been asked to work alongside the national suicide prevention charity Ollys Future .uk/
Rugby is built on looking out for each other on the pitch, and this training extends that care off the pitch too. Families and close supporters are often the first to notice changes in wellbeing, so involving them helps create a wider circle of support around every player.

Suicide is everyone’s business.
Future doctors at @ucl Medical School are learning ten suicide prevention tools and ten self-care and resilience techniques by attending our Dr SAMS (Suicide Awareness in Medical Students) programme, thanks to funding from the @fishmongerscompany .
The three year initiative includes delivery of the two part programme by Olly's Future trainers, as well as in-house UCL staff learning how to teach the sessions to their students themselves.
Ann Feloy, Founder and CEO, said: "I wanted to ensure sustainability and a way to scale the Dr SAMS programme to reach as many medical schools and universities as possible. This funding has enabled us to develop a Training for Trainers ‘T4T’ model so that the sessions can be delivered going forward by in-house staff, face to face. The work has involved developing training manuals and videos to help staff learn how to deliver Dr SAMS themselves.”
We trialled the suicide prevention ‘Talking about Suicide:10 Tools’ T4T with in-house training staff at Sanctuary Housing Association where they will roll out the training to up to 11,000 of their staff right across the UK.
It was created by Ann Feloy, in memory of her son, and Rose Rowkins of @start_the_conv .
Talking about Suicide:10 Tools (TAS:10) is a CPD certified training course where participants learn ten tools and the confidence and competence to have a safe, sensitive and non-judgemental conversation with someone they are worried about who may be thinking of suicide.

Please join us in putting Daffodils in your window on Valentine’s Day.
If you are bereaved on this day of love, please join us in putting daffodils in your window to show you still love that person and remember them.
We invite you to make this simple, heartfelt gesture in memory of a loved one or a dear friend.
Olly’s Future was founded in memory of Olly Hare from Worthing who died on February 14th, 2017 and his love and light continue to inspire us in our work at Olly’s Future.
Olly's mum wrote the lovely poem 'Daffodils'.
Put daffodils in the window
The brightest of the bright
To remind us of your presence
To remind us of your light.
Although the years are passing
Since last we saw your face
Your memory sustains us
With love and light and grace.
Daffodils are a sign of spring, of new beginnings and the promise of hope for the future - so important for those bereaved. By displaying daffodils on Valentine’s Day we hope to encourage understanding and empathy.
We invite you to print and display this image to explain our Daffodils campaign to visitors or passers by.
You can find out more about our work by visiting our website - link in our bio.

Ensuring our GPs know how to talk about suicide to their patients is crucial. Our wonderful trainers went to Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington, Kent, recently to deliver ‘Talking about Suicide:10 Tools’ to trainee and newly qualified GPs.
The London Borough of Bromley @lbbromley invited us to deliver this training as part of their Bromley GP Registrar Programme, an innovative scheme providing the fundamental foundations required to become a competent and confident General Practitioner.
Olly’s Future delivers suicide prevention training to practising clinicians as well as to medical students and future healthcare professionals, such as nurses and paramedics.
Ann Feloy, Olly’s Future founder and CEO, said: “We train existing and future doctors alike. Our belief is that if we can embed the learning while our future doctors and other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, are still studying, they will be better equipped and confident to help their future patients. However, it is never too late for practising clinicians to refresh their skills in suicide prevention. Why not get in touch?”
Talking about Suicide:10 Tools (TAS:10) was created by Ann Feloy of Olly's Future in memory of her son and Rose Rowkins of @start_the_conv . It has been delivered to #NHS Trusts as well as to medical schools and universities across the UK for over five years, with almost 10,000 participants trained in ten practical tools around suicide.
You can book, or find out more about, our suicide prevention training using links in our bio.

Our lobbying work in Westminster goes on.
Yesterday Ann Feloy and Jess Escourt met with Liz Twist MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Suicide and Self-Harm, with Doug Cave of the Learn Network and Jaquie Shanahan from the @forthe100_ group. We're campaigning for crucial changes. Mandatory core curriculum training in suicide prevention for all medical students across the UK, as well as for nursing and paramedics students and a Duty of Care for higher education institutions to support students' mental wellbeing.
They were delighted to be joined by Associate Professor Louise Howard from @kingstonuniversity . She and Ann will be speaking at the Royal College of Nursing @thercn ’s conference at @uniofexeter in April.
