I didn’t want to close the year before sharing what a pinnacle month September 2023 was for me and where I’m at now!🎓
I had moved from Manchester to London after 6 months of travelling the world. I also started a career with a company that launched in line with my move (
@itsdripwater 🥳). And finally, little to anyone’s knowledge, I enrolled at UCL - the 7th best global university in the world - to study my Masters in Race, Ethnicity and Postcolonial Studies.
New city, new business, new frame of mind.
Fast forward just over two years later, and I have cemented my position at Drip as global Head of Events and Social, just about settled in to this concrete jungle that is LDN, and completed my masters, including an extended research dissertation with a distinction (🫨).
To dedicate my Masters dissertation to my love for music, Grime music in this instance, and to interview key tastemakers has been an incredible privilege. I’d like to whole heartedly thank
@officialchip @djtarget @itsbigzuu @nickyslimting @iamshystie @bigfris @riskyroadz &
@linkuptv for taking the time to contribute to my original research.
My academic pursuits have always been in the greater pursuit of understanding how the world works, but importantly, how my likkle piece can contribute to a more racially just economy. My family have kept me rooted in my heritage, and my love for Jamaica and its culture has only heightened as I have studied further. The privilege that my studies, career and network have afforded me has made me even more motivated to continue celebrating and platforming the culture that I owe my creativity and purpose to.
If you knew me pre-2020, this life update wont be of much surprise to you (you’ve been knowing my lil nerdy side 🤓). But for those new to meeting me, or have perhaps only met me in moments of litness (balance, guys🙂↔️) I hope this provides a little context into what I do and how I think, and I’d love to explore these types of conversations further🙏🏽
We celebrate and give thanks 🍾🤍 #TwoDegreesUp
