Our Beat is a monthly open stage night that brings together musicians, artists, actors, comedians, dancers, and the community. This is more than a gig – it’s a chance to connect with like-minded people, meet local talent, and even take the stage yourself. Free event for all people and all art forms.
March 2022’s, Our Beat – Spoken Word takeover is a collaboration between The Drum and
@mavartsau as part of the In Situ program of events and activations. It brings together storytellers across different forms, diverse cultures, genders, and faiths to share in a powerful evening of story and knowledge transmission through spoken word poetry, music, dance, weaving and food.
We warmly welcome you to sit with us and our featured storytellers – 2020 Australian Slam Poet Ren Alessandra, Pasifika Trans activist Amao Leota Lu, Mr. Congo, Chichi Nwokocha, DJ Naru, Tane Te Manu McRoberts (weaver), Anne, and Carlo (music duo). Special guest appearances by Grace Vanilau,
