The water was so frigid I couldnโt even yelp, despite my body being flooded with adrenaline. I probably set a record for least amount of time spent in a cold plunge but Iโm not bragging.
This was immediately followed by a cliff-side sauna where a folklorist told us about the role of maidens in Irish mythology as I ladled water onto burning rocks, steam pluming and dewing on our skin.
The only natural next event was to perch with a coffee and a cigarette in the much sought-after sunshine and have my portrait taken by Xavier. It was a splendid morning.

This is a juvenile male brown booby spotted by @pippinprint resting on the bank of the Mississippi. Raising water temps have broadened their dispersal, bringing this typically Caribbean bird farther north. Exciting reminder that itโs time to start looking out for spring migrants!
