After many discussions, we have made the decision to change our name to Off Root Theatrics. This decision has come out of a lot of reflection on our own positionality within Singapore and the wider region, as well as the kind of work we want to be exploring moving forward. We wanted to stand under a banner that felt more accurately represented the both of us and the relationship to our mixed heritages – being slightly off our own roots. While we have traded out ‘Nusantara’ from our name, we still remain committed to exploring voices, narratives and urgencies from the region. We want to continue to re-examine, be inspired by, adapt and honour our own roots and the relationships it has helped us forge.
