Naming, logotype and basic brand identity for @espresso_tecnica_hk At first glance, it seemed to be an impossible task to combine dedication to perfect Italian espresso, love to art, special location at the @cyberporthkofficial — tech hub of the city, and very specific architectural features of the space (triangle roof) into one brand concept. And yet, it nicely landed as unison of art and tech. Tecnica Espresso is inspired by ideas of futurism, formed in Italy in 1909, at the same time first espresso machine was made. Tecnica means art and technology at the same time (from Greek “techne”). It is a tribute to the union of human and machine craft that goes into making a perfect classic cup of espresso. Art Week is a good time to speak of art at the bar. Truth is, the art lives here all year. Now we have a new piece. A balancing mobile called Relations. Made with @odditystudio it carries the stories of our twelve signature cocktails. It works by pure balance. No fixed attachments. Only equilibrium holds it. The menu says it straight: Nothing exists in isolation. We complete each other. The sculpture draws from Calder. But this one belongs to Hong Kong. Everyday objects from the back alleys. The kind Michael Wolf photographed. It moves slow and steady behind the bar. A living thing while we work. #theoldmanbar #theoldmanhk #artweek

Is creativity alive? This question really makes me want to prove it by making, seeing, discussing, and highlighting excellent work. And I hope it does the same for you. I always saw @d_and_ad as the highest standard in the industry, the hardest to achieve. Each time I have received the pencil, it boosted my work, and most importantly, in days when I felt low, it lit up my darkest doubts — reminding me that it is possible to stay true to myself and create work outside any expectations, the work to be celebrated and that can inspire the next generation. Menu for The Old Man Bar @theoldman_hk that pays homage to Ernest Hemingway. Each year we create experimental menu for the bar, and this is 7th menu. After so many years of collaboration we decided to pay tribute to all the people who shaped the work and called the menu “Relations”. It is inspired by the idea that nothing exists in isolation. People, flavors, dreams — everything exists in relation to one another and the spaces between. Nothing is whole on its own. We complete each other. Through discussions, different points of view, agreements and disagreements, we shape one another: inspire, motivate, push — as well as hold back. This menu explores how one thing affects another — people, stories, flavors, words, objects. We chose sheer bible paper, where each following page affects the previews one. Phrases and words become nearly animated as you flip trough the book. Whole layout made with type only.
