For the past two weeks, @soo.k.wav has been working from our space in Ghent, playing with synths, textures, and rhythms while gathering recordings from around the city. ⁠ ⁠ Tomorrow, she’ll share music she’s made during her time here, with UNOS and Ant FM playing records before and after her live set. ⁠ ⁠ Store opens at 14:00. These shirts were made at @monster_garment in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, on the west coast of Japan. The region has a long history of textile making and craftsmanship. ⁠ ⁠ We’ll be making our way back to the factory this Sunday for an afternoon with @kmcolon_ and @tomoya_tablas . The event is part of an ongoing collaboration with km:, around sound as a way of remembering disappearing ways of making and working.⁠ ⁠ Back at the store in Ghent, @soo.k.wav has been fiddling with new textures, recordings, and ideas. This Sunday, she’ll also be sharing music she’s made in the space alongside @unossound , @mu._.nds , and @larsduchateau , who will be playing records before and after her live set.

This May, we’re open every Friday and Saturday from 13:00 to 18:00, and also on Sunday the 17th for a live set with @soo.k.wav . ⁠ Soo is joining us from Berlin for two weeks, working in our space, trying things out and following her ear. She’ll play what comes out of her time here.⁠ ⁠ For those who know the city, we’d like to open up the process. If there’s something you think she shouldn’t miss, send it our way.

There’s something in the way Mona Steinwidder works that remains deliberately open.⁠ ⁠ As @museumofnoart , she moves across sound, installation, sculpture, and performance in a practice that resists fixed form, balancing solitude and exchange, impulse and reflection. For her, making is less about arriving somewhere than responding to an open-ended question.⁠ ⁠ Meaning is never entirely stable in her work. It shifts with space, context, and attention, leaving room for interpretation, ambiguity, and association.⁠ ⁠ Read more on our journal.

Last October, we released new again by @quar__ta . It was part of a tour we did together in Japan. A cassette edition of 100 copies was made for the shows, and sold out before we got home.⁠ ⁠ Originally envisioned as an extension of mathematical model 0010, it shifted into a more guitar-led record. Familiar shades return, while guitar tones trace the edges of something new.⁠ ⁠ A second cassette edition is now available in store. Some projects start with a plan. Cosima Pitz grew out of an ongoing conversation. A small press in the back room gradually expanded beyond paper and became a label where sound and image meet and respond to each other. For Maximilian Rossner, the feeling leads. He talks about music hitting the stomach, about work that bypasses thought. This sensitivity guides how the label is run, in how artists are paired, and how decisions are made. There isn’t a strict blueprint behind it. As he speaks about working this way, the conversation turns toward transcendence, collectivity, and freedom. Toward giving work space. Toward keeping things open. Toward resisting the pressure to turn everything into a business. Read more in our journal.
