The lyrics from this piece “Unstruck Sound” are from the Sikh scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib, and these verses are written by the poet Kabir. The piece describes the process of achieving a peaceful and still mind and meditating to achieve the state of being unaffected by the outside world. My personal emotional state is up and down all the time, but singing this brings me so much joy and serenity.
Tour begins next week! These will be our final performances for a long time as I embark on a creative reset that is much needed after realizing that a major part of my emotional struggle is deeply affected by the music business and the constant grind.
My band will be (mostly) performing songs from my album, The Living World’s Demands. I’m so happy to bring “Unstruck Sound” to life with a full band. I put together this video a couple of years ago when festivals were still doing streaming shows online. (Thanks to @debaser__ for supporting this video performance.) I was in the midst of recording the album at the time.
Hope to see you out there! xoxo

Unheard is a music series exploring listening, curiosity, and spontaneity through collaborative improvisation. Each season, an artist-in-residence leads three in-the-round performances with rotating multi-instrumentalists.
For her final edition, South Asian-American vocalist, sitarist, composer and producer @amidang invites two bold improvisers: Hanna Olivgren, a Stockholm-born, Baltimore-based singer and composer who shares her own music under the name H.O.W and plays in ZOMES, Underworld Orchard, and Midnight Sun, who recently opened for Mary Lattimore; and @ill_iterate , a Philadelphia-based drummer and founding member of TOTALLY AUTOMATIC, an experimental trio exploring unarranged music with saxophone and electronics.
Unheard will be held at @lightandsounddesign , a private loft in Greenpoint featuring a vintage 4-point Klipsch sound system and comfortable seating arrangements.

BALTIMORE! come out to Current Space this Saturday, September 27 for an intimate and eclectic evening of music with some very beautiful humans. (Link in bio for tix)
I am beyond excited to debut my new trio featuring Qi Yu on guzheng (Chinese zither) and Ali Bandeali (Arabic percussion), who I connected with at the amazing Global Musicians Workshop hosted by Silk Road project last month. We immediately hit it off and ended up in an ensemble together. Qi and I also played at Union Station in late August and a guy with a protest sign and MAGA hat stopped and stared at us for five mins.... please come this Sat and lower my anxiety levels from that experience 😅
And we will have two Baltimore treasures also performing!
H.O.W — the one-and-only Hanna Olivegren will serenade us
Mike Kuhl — drummer extraordinaire who has performed with jazz greats (and so many musicians!) around the world
Music inspires. Music transcends.
I love you

No Chief / Ami Dang / Zottoh
Sunday September 14 * 7pm * $15-25 * TICKETS
No Chief is a new solo project from Sebadoh drummer, Bob D’Amico. No Chief= Rhythm as visual. Visual as rhythm. Percussion as melody. Interactive and presented as ONE.
Amrita “Ami” Kaur Dang is a South Asian-American, Sikh composer, vocalist, sitarist and multimedia artist from Baltimore. Combining ideas from Indian music with electronic media, her work invites the audience to reframe their assumptions about the colonial history of music, the arts, technology, and performance and its place in the contemporary musical landscape.
Zottoh is the solo project of Santiago Soto. The project focuses on creating drones and noise using guitar feedback as the only sound source. Multiple amplifiers are used at the same time, turning the space itself into part of the sound and shaping different effects and textures.
