Hi! 👋🏽 I’m Oryza (“oh-REE-zah”), and I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m new to this space, and chances are, so are you — so let’s get to know each other. 💕
🇮🇩 I am a first-gen Indonesian-American. I spent my childhood just outside of Jakarta and moved to the U.S. when I was 11.
🎓 I’ve called the DC area home since 2018, when I came here for grad school. These days, I spend my 9-5 navigating international trade policy.
💍 I’m a 2025 bride! I got engaged last fall in Paris (my favorite city), and am planning a destination wedding this year!
🍽️ Food is my love language. From oyster happy hours (on the HUNT 🔍) to semi-homemade creations (iykyk), I’ll be sharing it all.
🖼️ I have a deep love for art and museums, and feel so lucky to live in a city where it’s all so accessible.
🌏 I also love to travel, and am always dreaming of my next adventure.

UPSIDE on Moore is a food hall in Rosslyn with diverse vendors, conveniently located by the metro.
The bar hosted an #oyster fest in honor of National Oyster Day (Aug 5) with oyster specials like this delicious po’boy, and some of the best (and biggest!!) buck-shucks I’ve ever had! Thanks to @nomswithpanda for sharing the info 😋
The Bar at UPSIDE is having $1 oyster specials on Fridays all day (11am-9pm) this August! Top it up with their regular #happyhour from 3-7pm and your summer Fridays plans are set this month 👌🏽

I’ve had Dōgon on my @resy Hit List for a while, and lucked out with a reservation on a Tuesday—the one day they serve the braised oxtails. (A former menu staple, now a special thanks to rising costs and laborious prep.) Let me tell you… 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘵.
Every bite and sip we had was phenomenal, but what stood out was the vibe. Warm, friendly service (you can tell that everyone who works there genuinely loves the place), a sleek, luxurious yet cozy aesthetic, and a playlist so good we had to ask about it. @chefkwameonwuachi , you craft playlists just as well as you craft a menu.
We were so well fed, we didn’t have room for dessert, so already planning our next visit!

🍝 Brunch @osteriamozzadc , no sighting of the Obamas but the vibes and food are equally immaculate — I get why it’s a favorite!
🏎️ @f1arcadeusa to celebrate our good friend’s Major accomplishment, his 6th @wmmajors star! We found out he’s equally good on (virtual) wheels as he is on foot 🏃💨

We pretty quickly abandoned our original idea of getting last-minute Cowboy Carter tickets and spent an active weekend filled with quality time with friends instead. Worth it! I’ll hold out for Queen Bey’s Act III 👀

How did you spend your Fourth of July weekend?
June is over?! Julyin’ 🤪
This year started rough, but this month was the mid-year reset I needed. Thankful for friends who got me into new hobbies and make summer fun, being consistent in working out and feeling my body get stronger, and a support system that lifts me up behind the scenes.
Brighter days are ahead, and I’m so grateful and privileged to have things to look forward to. ☀️
