An inspiring day in Albany. Thank you to Assembly Member @tonywsimone for recognizing the American Folk Art Museum and celebrating 65 years of providing 100% free access to our exhibitions and community programming—an achievement that helped lead to our designation as the #1 Art Museum by readers of Newsweek. Our visit was not only a celebration, but also an opportunity to advocate for the arts and to highlight the work of folk and self-taught artists, whose talents too often go unrecognized. Alongside Museum Director @jasontbusch , Deputy Director & Chief Curator @emeliegevalt , Director of Communications @Mitch Case, and Advancement & Government Relations Officer @Ron Miller, we were grateful to the many elected officials from across the capital who took the time to learn more about our important programs serving families, seniors, and the broader public—all made possible through free admission. 1. Assembly Floor with @tonywsimone 2. Senate Chamber 3. Thank you Senator @ebottcher for your support of the arts 4. Team @afamuseum 5. Assembly Member and AFAM trustee emeritus @didi4assembly 6. @ny4ca rally for arts and culture funding 7. Assembly Member and AFAM advocate @seawrightforny 8. Go Queens! thank you Senator Kristen Gonzalez @sengonzalezny

We honor those breaking the code across every sphere—community champions, artists’ advocates, corporate leaders, politicians, organizations, and even those upholding the law. Each honoree has fought to uplift others—whether through protecting communities, inspiring artists, driving change in leadership, or building lasting impact. Together, their actions empower, protect, and shape a future of possibility. @kr3ts Dance Company 37th Anniversary Breakin the Code May 1-2 @hostoscenter 🎞🎞 @bellaboomedia Thank you to all whos making a difference to every community.

The situation in Minneapolis is much more severe than what we see in the news. Families bunkered down at home, Children not going out to play for months. Blinds closed. Doors locked. People aren't enjoying walks, going to arts events, and anxiety is high. Please do what you are able to do for MN Arts during this time. It will go along way to support the creatives that help make life worth living. See image for link.
