Support our #Organization this “Giving Tuesday” with our special edition “Close the Loop: Northwest & Salvage Collaboration Hoodie”
The hoodie will be available through December 2nd - 9th.
Every week, over 150 of our neighbors rely on home-delivered produce and pantry essentials. At the same time, tons of perfectly good food goes to waste in our city.
This year, we’re launching a limited edition Giving Tuesday hoodie to fuel this mission. When you purchase one, you’re not just representing the movement. You’re directly helping us purchase more fresh food for the people we serve. It’s a way to stay warm and take a stand for community care at the same time.
Give if you can. Share if you can’t. Stand with us in the fight to “Close The Loop”
Big S/O to St. Christopher Hospital for Children ( @stchrishospital ) for allowing us to participate in their giveaway! we was able to gather more #turkeys to lend a hand to our friends at the hospital while they provide meals to the community and neighbors that live and come to the hospital for support. It takes a community!
This morning we got the chance to partner with Councilmember Nicolas O’Rourke ( @nicforphilly ) and his team to make sure our #community has a warm meal this thanksgiving! We are thankful for his office and the work they are doing for Philadelphians across the city! #nwmac #communitysupport #nonprofitorganization
Going into this holiday season we got some great thanksgiving bags ready to go out to our disable seniors, veterans and low income families! Turkey and all the fixings ready for their thanksgiving tables! We love our community and will always show up for those that need us. All of our single families will get 90lbs of groceries for this holiday and our bigger families will get about 100lbs. HAPPY THANKSGIVING #thanksgiving #communtysupport #northwestmutualaidcollective

We were honored to welcome State Representative @andredcarroll to our warehouse on our Distro Day! 👏 He came to see firsthand how our team works to fight food insecurity, reduce food waste, and serve our community every week.
From sorting fresh produce to preparing home deliveries for seniors and families in need, Rep. Carroll got a behind-the-scenes look at the impact our volunteers and staff are making in Northwest Philadelphia. 💚
We’re grateful for leaders who take the time to see community work up close and support our mission of food justice, sustainability, and care for every neighbor.

2025 Goal Reached! We have taken our food bank to zero waste! On a monthly basis, we recover 33,000 lbs of veggies and now we can say that anything we recover will never see the landfill. This is a major step for our food bank and great feeling to know that we are not only helping our community but being good land stewards to the land we call home. #sustainability #lowerourcarbonfootprint #foodbank #nonprofit
Big shout out to our director Linda James-Rivera for receiving the Outstanding Community Partner Nutrition Supervisor award from @templeuniv@tu_nutrition this morning. We are proud of the hard work and dedication to the community that she shows! #communitywork #nonprofits #nonprofitorganization
“There’s a big difference between skipping lunch and not eating for three days, and the way that hunger affects your body versus your heart and your soul.” - Chef Matthew Stebbins of Double Trellis Food Initiative
Matthew and his @doubletrellis team of chefs work with 25 partner organizations across 14 zip codes to feed our neighbors delicious, nutritious meals made of real ingredients. Two of those organizations are @nwmac and @yeahphilly . Linda James-Rivera and Kendra Van de Water joined us at the kitchen to talk about how their organizations team up with Double Trellis to serve as many people as possible.
I was so inspired by the work of all three of these nonprofits and I know you will be, too! Catch us tomorrow morning on @nbcphiladelphia (sometime between 6:40-6:55, I’m not sure the exact time)💜
(P.S. this meal was sooo good that I asked for the recipe lol these chefs are so talented!)
The 2025 Outstanding Community Partner Supervisor Award for the Graduate Nutrition Program recipient is Linda James-Rivera from Northwest Mutual Aid Collective, Inc, @nwmac , a grassroots non-profit organization in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. Established in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, the organization aims to help combat food insecurities and food waste by supplying nutritious and healthy food to seniors, disabled residents, and low-income families in the Northwest section.
When asked to provide a statement about her award, Linda decided to praise the @tu_nutrition student she worked with, Jamie Ghiorzi, showing the mark of a great leader by lifting up someone she supervised.
"Temple student Jaime Ghiorzi, a Master's in Nutrition student who joined us last fall, brought a wealth of knowledge in food nutrition. With Jaime’s expertise, we immediately focused on understanding our clients’ needs and identifying the best food options for them. She revamped our dietary restriction list and developed recipes and worksheets that have significantly enhanced our program."
Congratulations, Linda! We look forward to honoring you at our annual Awards Ceremony in May.
NWMAC has been serving the NW section of Philly for over 4 years. In today's climate, people are losing benefits and jobs. The requests are coming in every day to receive food donations. We currently have a waiting list for our home delivery program, and we are asking our community for help. Please scan the QR code and consider making a donation. Every dollar counts.
