Giving Tuesday is an annual global generosity movement that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, shifting the focus from commercialism to charitable giving.
This Tuesday, let Nu Indigo Nation be a nonprofit that you pour into. Your donations go to keeping our community programs funded and supported.
We thank you in advance! 🫶🏾

On April 30th, 2026, the Philadelphia Board of Education voted 6-3 to close 17 public schools and they did it from a locked room, on Zoom, while community members, students, and City Council members were still in the building demanding to be heard.
This is a systemic decision that will reshape entire neighborhoods and determine the futures of thousands of Black and brown children in this city.
Research is clear, school closures cause drops in graduation rates, lower college attendance, and up to a 25% decrease in lifetime earning potential for low-income students. And when the educational system fails these kids, the school-to-prison pipeline doesn’t. Students without stable schools and consistent resources are 3 times more likely to be incarcerated. & The prison industry is a for-profit machine that could care less about our communities!
This is capitalism is prioritized over ethics.
There is a rally TODAY, May 5th from 8AM–8PM. If you are in Philadelphia, show up. If you are not, share this, talk about it, and apply pressure. Silence is compliance.
Our children are not a budget line

There’s something deliberate about the way Neptune XXI moves.
The Medicine Music Experience Part II at Kanvas wasn’t just a performance. It was proof that artists can build with Black-owned spaces and fill the room on their own terms.
That night, she spoke about what comes next: the Spirit Circuit, an initiative inspired by the Chitlin’ Circuit, designed to connect Black-owned venues and create real pathways for artists.
This is leadership in practice.

Watching how Chavel works reminded me that music doesn’t just need inspiration. It needs
structure.
Community isn’t only about care or collaboration here — it’s how the work grows, moves, and
lasts. This piece is about what happens when responsibility is shared instead of carried alone.

🔵 Dye Your Own Durag (or headwrap!)
Come learn about indigo and explore dye resist techniques 🌀 Indigo and headwraps carry a deep cultural history! Our head coverings have been tools of protection, identity, resistance, and self-expression—from African spiritual traditions, through enslavement and survival, to contemporary expressions of pride and care. 🤎✊🏿 In Afrocentric spiritual traditions, the head is sacred —the seat of consciousness, intuition, and divine connection. Covering the head has long been a way to preserve energy, honor ancestors, and move through the world with intention. 🧘🏾♀️🌀
Bring your own durag or headwrap to dye, or I will have some custom stitched ones available too!
This gathering is an offering for intentional, collective remembrance, and creative practice 🧵 a space intentionally held for people of African/Afri.Ameri. descent and ancestry 🖤 ~ a space where our shared lineage allows for ease, safety, and cultural continuity.
🌀What to Expect —
🔹Introduction to the cultural history of indigo
🔹Hands-on dyeing experience
🔹Learning indigo resist dye techniques
🔹A finished, wearable piece infused with intention
No prior dyeing experience is necessary. Just come as you are! 🔗 in bio to sign-up!
(I acknowledge indigo has many cultural histories across the globe — this workshop will focus on its relationship to Afrodiasporic history + practices 💙)
HAPPY (almost) BLACK HISTORY MONTH Y’ALL 🤎
