As Ripley said, “That was too short.”
The brief but potent Barry Walker Unit tour of the PNW is over, but our skulls, cymbals, and strings will continue ringing for a long time. Thanks to all the lovely folks who came to join us and bless the ghost of Whitson who guided us along the invisible path!

Release show tonight w Rob, Jason, and Ripley in Corvallis
We’re delighted that the incredible new albums from The Soft Pink Truth and Barry Walker Jr. are out now!! Years in the making with dream collaborations, both Drew and Barry have transported us to new worlds with their latest records.
The Soft Pink Truth, fka Drew Daniel of Matmos, has released his brand new album ‘Can Such Delightful Times Go On Forever?’ The record is unlike anything he’s done before–a deviation from the norm. With this release you will find Drew at his most orchestral, cinematic, glorious, grand, sublime. Who else could properly explain this shift in sonic exploration besides the man of the hour himself? Drew Daniel has penned a poignant piece in The Quietus on making music in the most volatile and disheartening of times. We highly recommend reading the piece.
After loving Barry’s playing for years with Rose City Band, we’re elated to be sharing his debut solo album on Thrill Jockey ‘Paleo Sol’ today. The pedal steel connoisseur joins forces with Rob Smith (Animal, Surrender!, Gray/Smith, Rhyton, Pigeons) on drums and Jason Willmon (Mouth Painter, Fruited Planes) on bass. The result is the wonderful and groundbreaking (pardon the geological pun, you’ll certainly see more over the next few months) new record.
Both records out now for your enjoyment.
Barry Walker Jr has shared his latest single, “Son, Don’t Brighten The Bear Creek Rhyolite” off ‘Paleo Sol’.
For fans of geology, pedal steel, ambient country, Rose City Band, the Pacific Northwest, etc.
Barry Walker Jr’s first solo record with TJ, ‘Paleo Sol,’ is out on January 30, 2026.
Link to pre-order ‘Paleo Sol’ is in our bio 🌱💫
