〰️First Line Friday〰️ . Happy Friday Booksta! Hope you've had a lovely week and got through some great reads!. #QOTD What are you currently reading? . This Friday I'm starting The Killer In Room Five by @samhollandbooks ➡️Swip right to get a sneak preview of the introduction. In typical Holland style, its a brutally dark start and yes she has my attention! 😵 . I'm reading this one with my buddies @yorkshire.bookworm and @northyorkshirereader but playing catch up as I'm starting it a little late. . P.s. would reccomend this wax lyrical candle "The Library Room" it smells divine! 😍 . #firstlinefriday #fridaypost #tgifriday #fridayvibes

*Book Review* 𝔸𝔻/ℙℝ ℙ𝕦𝕓𝕝𝕚𝕤𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕠𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕣𝕠𝕨 𝟙𝟜𝕥𝕙 𝕄𝕒𝕪 𝟚𝟘𝟚𝟞 Thankyou to Arti Manani for having me on your arc and of course thanks to Zoé for reading this with me! Make sure you check her review out! You are grabbed by the short and curlies from the get go with this one! Straight away you delve into the life’s of the Main Characters and you get the learn their deepest darkest secrets. I found this one to be a bit of a slow burn but once the story gets going the pace picks up and thanks to the fab twists and turns that unfold along the way. It was a shorter read of about 180 pages, told from various points of view with nice short snappy chapters and it kept me engaged through out. I would have liked it to be that little bit longer just so it didn’t feel slightly rushed towards the end. This is my first book by Arti but I will defo be looking at more of her work.

💌Saturday Mail💌 . What a brilliant suprise to come home to today! Thank you @profile.books for sending me this paperback edition of The Killer Question by @janice.hallett 😍 I'm BEYOND CHUFFED 😍 . Blurb: The answer is murder. The question is whodunnit? A quiet country pub stands empty, its windows boarded up. And its kindly landlords, Mal and Sue Eastwood, are missing. What could have happened? A lot of strange events occurred in the days before the Eastwoods disappeared. A murdered man pulled from the nearby river. An eccentric couple on a houseboat who claimed to be led by a spirit guide. And a mysterious new team who suddenly appeared and began winning every round at the weekly pub quiz - much to the anger of the locals. They must have been cheating, but no one could figure out how... Can you crack the case of the missing landlords? Someone's not been playing fair, so get the drinks in and see if you can get a perfect score. . I love a Pub Quiz, although I'm not very good 🤣 I plan on reading this one with my buddies @yorkshire.bookworm and @northyorkshirereader and think this type of story will make the best buddy read! CANT WAIT!! . #bookmail #thekillerquestion #bookblogger #unboxing #pubquiz

Review: The Wilds @sarahpearseauthor Detective Elin Warner Book 3 was a brilliant addition to this series and perhaps a bittersweet end or maybe a pause. A compelling story, with a deeper meaning than what's on the surface. This is the story of Kier Templer, a perpetual drifter who lives her life on the road. She has a harrowing past that has haunted her since childhood, once dubbed as "the monster's daughter." Her brother Penn has always been her rock and someone she always stays connected with. But when she goes off the grid, Penn knows in his heart that something is wrong. Detective Elin has gone on vacation with her estranged brother Isaac to the national park in Portugal, a retreat to try and reconnect. Although this trip only turns dark when she's dragged into the disappearance of Kier. This author is a master at destination thrillers; each book has been set in some sublime yet torturous locations. With attention to detail and eloquent descriptions, the books come to life. A compelling story from the get-go. I enjoyed the tension building, with the variable pace which only enhanced the layers of the overall plot. I found this book enticed you to analyse the characters. It was fun to read with my buddies as we continuously tried to pinpoint the unreliable narrator. It had so many discussion points along the way. It's a thought-provoking mystery thriller. It explores a lot of modern-day, hot topics, specifically around relationships and deep-engrained emotions, whether it be familial or romantic. It was easy to pick up the gaslighting behaviors and toxic dynamics, but the author managed to give you insight behind these well-hidden demons. Someone can appear the nicest person, but they soon change. I've really enjoyed following Detective Elin and feel that she profoundly developed through each book. She's packed with emotions with a great backstory; she's somewhat flawed but holds pure strength. I became easily invested in her and hope to see her return one day. There were a lot of twists in this one. So buckle up, you're in for a bumpy ride. They really caught me off guard, but when revealed, everything slotted into place. #thewilds #igbook

*Book Review* This is the third and final instalment from @sarahpearseauthor in the Detective Elin Warner series and overall I thought it was a fab wrap up. The setting for this book is just perfect for the story line, it is mysterious, dark, atmospheric and chilling! You truly do feel you are in the middle of nowhere, stranded, away from the realness of the world. It flits between a dual POV with two time lines which I really enjoyed. The way Pearse is able to run not only two peoples stories but two different times alongside each other seamlessly is just fabulous! No confusion what so ever with short snappy chapters to help build up the tension throughout, it is just grand! Although a bit more of a slow burn then the other two in the series, the twists and turns had you on the edge of your seat, some that I did figure out but some that shocked me to the core that I did not expect and I loved them! The series was fab and I am sad to see the end of it but I can’t wait to see what else Pearse has up her sleeve so watch this space. I read this of course with the girls @northyorkshirereader and @_what_katie_read_ , so head over to their pages to check out thoughts as well!

*Book Review* Another book by the wonderful @janice.hallett that explodes with originality with the style it is written in. Hallet uses purely multimedia to tell her story and she does it with utter brilliance! The way that Hallet manages to use a combination of WhatsApp’s, essays, emails and various other layouts to create the story is just faultless. I always feel it takes a little bit to settle into the swing of this layout but once your a few pages deep the story just flies of the pages! The book is set out over a time line of the full uni course with a multi layered plot that flits between time lines. Towards the end of the book I did find myself getting confused as I wasn’t sure what was happening where and had to keep going back to figure it out. I found some of the characters to be utterly frustrating. For me this was a slower burn than the others I’ve read of Hallets and I didn’t feel as absorbed as I have with the others. Having said that I can’t wait to read more of her work as I just love the multimedia element and this k it’s fab! I read this one with my besties @northyorkshirereader and @_what_katie_read_ and I think Hallets work makes for a great buddy read as it gives you so much to chat about. Head over to their pages to check out their reviews and give them some love!

~Book Review~ The Examiner by @janice.hallett This is another cleverly orchestrated book that shines with originality. The story is executed solely through the use of multi-media. Hallet has mastered this layout and manages to combine emails, message boards, essays, and WhatsApp messaging to craft a well-developed plot. It takes me a couple of pages to sink myself into, but once my mind adjusts, everything flows seamlessly and the story truly comes to life. I read this with my buddies @yorkshire.bookworm and @northyorkshirereader I think Hallett books make the perfect buddy read. As the story unfolds, there is so much to discuss and our messages lit up with some hot topics to examine. This plot follows a group of students in an art master's program that goes dangerously awry. Gela Nathaniel, head of Royal Hastings University's new multimedia art course, is challenged to bring 6 keen students from all walks of life across the United Kingdom into this new program. Jem, Jonathon, Patrick, Ludya, Cameron, and Alyson are a complete mixed bag of personalities and are nothing but trouble from day one. An external examiner must grade the students' work, but along the way, he sees that someone is in danger and possibly already dead. Can we uncover what went wrong during such an innocent art course? This story covers the full timeline of the course and its projects. The story is lengthy and in-depth, with a slow-burn feel. The writing is compelling and easy. With no breaks, it's hard to know when to stop. However there were some times where I didnt quite connect to the story-line and a few characters were just simply fustrating. When you're introduced to the characters, you aren't given a broad description of how they may look, and yet you use your own imagination from the way they speak through the text. Towards 3/4 through the book, you find out their true personal features, and although I was wrong with some, the discovery makes the book all the more fun. It also makes you realise that some key features are used to the plot's advantage. A fun mystery novel packed with puzzling events that will test the sharpness of your mind. #bookreview #theexaminer
