Soprano Nola Richardson @nolasoprano will perform Bach's Cantata 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen landen, with American Classical Orchestra on February 26 in New York, New York. @americanclassicalorchestra Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen — Bach’s only sacred work scored for solo soprano and trumpet — was composed for general liturgical use, marked “et in ogni tempo” (and at any time). The work may have originated at the court of Saxe-Weissenfels, where the combination of virtuoso soprano and trumpet was particularly favored. Both the soprano part, which spans two octaves and includes a high C, and the trumpet part are extraordinarily demanding. Bach likely wrote the trumpet part for Gottfried Reiche, his principal trumpeter, while the soprano requirements suggest he had an unusually gifted singer available.
