Table Talk by Malù dalla Piccola at United Palace NYC, presented by Christian Louboutin. Four acts staged in the spirit of the Surrealist dinner parties of post-war Paris — candlelit dinner on the stage itself, ballerina in scarlet pointe shoes, projected dancers moving behind her, the audience seated inside the piece. The Red Shoes as source material. Nitemind — lighting and video design, programming, production, logistics, crew. A sheer fabric hung in front of the LED wall, close enough to the guests that the screen itself would have read as tech in the room. Projector moved into position on stage during dinner. Not a setup cue — part of the piece. Art leads. Tech follows. ⁣ Artist @maluettt ⁣Photo @hunterabrams for @voguemagazine ⁣Producer @wonumeansgrace @anabellemcole ⁣Camera team @bodeyco ⁣Sound @asamiller.wav ⁣Venue @unitedpalacenyc ⁣Food @thubuser @taylorbuser @grandcook ⁣Nitemind team @highestpeakonearth @kneegroan @ros.durham

14 years of Nitemind! This is a photo from the first thing I built, on its first night on the road. The tour started in Brooklyn but I completely broke the code on the night before the Brooklyn show and could not get it working in time. Yes, I had zero backups and zero versioning. I was working in the Arduino IDE which was basically a text editor. I was able to fix it in time for us to rent a van and drive down to Philly to catch up with the band on the second show. This photo is from that show in May 2012

Back when raves were raves. Helena Hauff x Nitemind. Bushwick warehouse 2017. I spent the most time on this gig building a room in the middle of the warehouse. I still have the high tension cable system that I made to do it. I used it to pull a tree out out of a driveway recently. Oh how times change. Anyone that wants to do a proper old school underground laser rave let me know.

Celebrating ten years of tour work. I guess it was in December but I didn’t even realize. This pic is from @kelela at @musichallofwb in Dec 2015. This era was a moment for me where I had been doing a lot of underground / DIY techno, Steel Drums had closed a few years earlier but I knew Kelela from there so it made sense to go this direction. Little did I know that this is the work that would change my whole practice and my life for the better. 🥹

Steel Drums 2014. No idea what we were shooting here but this is my second animated LED system that only ran from an @lzxindustries video synthesizer run thru the DV camera that my family used to record my saxophone playing in high school. The LED rig and of course Steel Drums are long gone sadly, but I still have the DV cam & vidsynth.

Sustain-Release Year One 2014 - it was such a different time back then. The @bossanovacivicclub stage had one laser and one strobe and it was amazing. I feel like this was the year that Steven Grisé was just on the controls like the whole weekend and he totally nailed it. It was just him and I along with @kippppy and @tanpapi back then. So much fun.

Sustain-Release 2024. Apparently the Main stage is dead as of 2025, I’m not sure. All I know is that merging bossa stage and main for a few years was fun. Truth be told I wanted to change the design for the past 2 years but was asked not to by the SR so we let this rig rip! 🤙
