🐚 Nina Surel x @delanomiamibeach — Nina Surel’s commissioned work, The Multiverse is Singing Our Song, is now on view at the newly reopened Delano South Beach! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Rooted in Florida’s ecological histories and shaped through richly textured stoneware, Surel’s sculptural practice explores transformation, myth, fertility, and feminine identity through surreal botanical and symbolic forms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Originally opened in 1947, the iconic Delano returns following a six-year restoration led by Ennismore, with hotel’s inaugural art program curated by Nicola Green. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With special thanks to Delano South Beach and the team behind Nicola Green’s curatorial vision for their support and collaboration. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Images: The Multiverse is Singing Our Song, 2025, Underglaze on stoneware over wood, 54“ W × 33” H × 1“ D, Photo by Anthony Spinello

From studio walls to public spaces - excited to share this major milestone in my practice! Working on a project for PS Miami Private Terminal @reserveps . This incredible opportunity is pushing me beyond my comfort zone to work with new dimensions. What I’m loving most about this process is the collaborative nature of public art - it’s such a refreshing shift from the often solitary studio practice. Working alongside architects, city planners, engineers, and community members brings so many new perspectives and ideas to the table. Deeply grateful to the City of Miami @artinpublicplacesmdc @amandacarriesanfilippo @pablorinconm for creating these opportunities for artists to not only expand our individual practices but also connect us with broader teams and communities. Can’t wait to share more of this journey! 📷 @brookedavanzo.jpg Posts written with AI assistance” @claudeai #miamidadearts #artinpublicplacesmdc #ArtInPublicPlaces #MiamiArt #PublicArt

📣UNREAL — An invitational survey exhibition presented by Secrist | Beach featuring Spinello Projects’ artists: Esaí Alfredo, Nereida Garcia-Ferraz, Jared McGriff, and Nina Surel ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍Secrist | Beach 1801 West Hubbard Street Chicago IL 60622 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🗓️Exhibition Hours April 10 - June 13, 2026 Tuesday to Friday, 10am - 6pm Saturday, 11am - 5pm ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ UNREAL is an invitational survey exhibition featuring fourteen artists exploring these strange and anxious times through the guise of surrealism. One hundred years later, the core principles of surrealism still revolve around dreamlike narratives, symbolic iconography, distorted or abstract humor, illusionistic play of materials and mediums, and the stretching of rationality in pursuit of liberation. UNREAL takes a flexible, contemporaneous interpretation of these ideologies while keeping a wary eye on the complexities of the current socio-political, conceptual, and philosophical concerns taking place now. Participating artists: Esaí Alfredo, Dan Attoe, Ever Baldwin, Omar Barquet, Chris Bradley, Ginny Casey, Josh Dihle, Al Freeman, Nereida Garcia-Ferraz, Lola Gil, Naomi Hawksley, Rodrigo Imaz, Jared McGriff, Kitty Rauth and Nina Surel ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📷Installation view of UNREAL, courtesy Secrist | Beach.

Last night at @dalezinemag Design District, Karen Grimson @kaiagrimson and @katy.hessel in conversation!!! “In the beginning, the feminine principle was seen as the fundamental cosmic force. All ancient peoples believed that the world was created by a female Deity.” Judy Chicago. How to Live an Artful Life by @katyhessel — get it, read it!

Last year, I was honored to be selected as a recipient of the South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowship — one of the largest awards for visual and media artists in the United States. And with that award, I was finally able to buy my dream kiln. 🔥 Ornella ⚡️ This is what arts funding actually looks like in practice. Not just recognition — but the real, tangible ability to invest in your career and take your work to the next level. None of this happens alone. I want to thank Laura Marsh @lauramarshart , who guided me through the application process. Anthony Spinello @anthony_spinello @spinelloprojects of Spinello Projects, whose unwavering support of my practice means more than words can say. Amanda San Filippo Long @amandacarriesanfilippo — longtime curator and artist manager of the Art in Public Places Program at Miami-Dade County — who has always been there with patience, love, and support. And the regional panel of visual and media experts from South Florida who generously give their time and expertise to review submissions and champion artists in our community. If you’re a visual or media artist in South Florida, I want you to know: opportunities like this exist for YOU. From color development to installation prep — the final push before bringing this vision to life. Spent today packing, organizing, and mentally preparing for what comes next. There’s a unique energy in these moments before installation: equal parts anticipation, meticulous planning, and that flutter of excitement knowing months of work are about to materialize in physical space. Spinello’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition — Changes: Reflections on Time & Space ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Changes: Reflections on Time & Space gathers fifteen artists whose practices have intersected with the gallery’s history. Drawing from founder Anthony Spinello’s personal art collection, the exhibition stages a dialogue between seminal works collected over the past two decades and new or recent works by the same artists—many of whom share deep ties to Miami. This constellation of artworks maps not only Spinello’s own trajectory, but also a chapter in the city’s evolving cultural landscape, reflecting the intertwined histories of place, practice, and community. Here, time is both a subject and a medium. The works span years, even decades, and carry with them the histories of their making—the social, political, and personal contexts that shaped them. Changes: Reflections on Time & Space is more than an exhibition—it is a time capsule, a love letter, and a testament to two decades of belief, growth, and transformation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Artists include: Farley Aguilar @farley_aguilar23 Esai Alfredo @esai_alfredo Eddie Arroyo @developerssurvey Bernadette Despujols @bernadettedespujols Nereida Garcia-Ferraz @nerigf Elliot & Erick Jimenez @elliotanderick Kris Knight @krisknight Sinisa Kukec @sinisakukec Jared McGriff @watercolorbrother Reginald O’Neal @_reginaldoneal_ Marlon Portales @marlonart91 Nina Surel @ninasurel Naama Tsabar @naamatsabar Agustina Woodgate @lawoodgate ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🗓️ Gallery Hours On view till January 10, 2026 Wednesday - Saturday, 12 - 5 pm ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📍Gesamtkunstwerk Building 2930 NW 7th Ave. Miami, FL 33127 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Installation images photo by Zachary Balber
