Tonight…. EVE’S BAYOU (1997) Dir. Kasi Lemmons A coming-of-age tale told from the perspective of ten-year-old Eve, Lemmons’ stunning debut explores complex family dynamics, trauma, and spiritualism whilst steeped in rich southern gothic atmosphere. Inspired by her own upbringing, the film feels at once naturalistic and in the realms of folktale. A vivid, hypnotic, and atmospheric piece of cinema. @roganisabella & @delphilievens @tapecollective joined us for a conversation around the female filmmakers on this season available on @nottm_contemp website please check it out. The summer season of The Screen at Contemporary ends on tomorrow with one of my favourite films NIGHT ON EARTH by @jim.jarmusch with a soundtrack by Tom Waites. SLOW. FAST. STRANGE.  A collection of films where the soundtrack is the main character. Music and film have long been entwined.  Each affects the other profoundly. They can blend harmoniously; they can contort each other., In symbiosis, they leave us seeing music and hearing image.  Curated in collaboration with our friends @runningcirclerecords they have recommendations to of records inspired by the films score IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE (2000) Dir. Wong Kar-wai. Hong Kong LIFT TO THE SCAFFOLD (1958) Dir. Louis Malle THE HOLY MOUNTAIN (1973) Dir Alejandro Jodorowsky (with live score from BO NINGEN) KING CREOLE (1958) Dir Michael Curtiz NIGHT ON EARTH (1991) Dir Jim Jarmusch
