In times like these, a fairy tale is of great importance to people.
that’s why I often daydream, I can often find certain characters from fairy tales in the people around me.
Maybe a way of the lessons I learned from those old fairy tales, a way of recognizing people.
This is how we came up with the idea for an ode to Disney and if you think further, to paint the stories of the Brothers Grimm in the well-known graffiti street in Ghent.
So I thought of the fairytale of sleeping beauty , specifically the sequel with Malificent .
a masterpiece played by one of my most favorite actresses Angelina Jolie .
Something in me was fascinated by her magical powers of nature, also her rather good nature. she deserves a feather in her cap for this. or should I better say her wings.

One of my artistic highlights of this year was the mural in lokeren. What an adventure. We went in search of the solidarity that lives between people. And I must say I am positively surprised. we found stories that still live in between the people. Stories that connect the neighborhood with love and unity. A multicultural experience where I really had to pinch myself sometimes to see if I wasn't dreaming.
The zebra finch presents the solidarity between humans and animals. Because a bird is one of the few creatures that is capable of flying. The bird adapted so that it can move stably in the air, Or rather. solid in the air. Solidair
We also find the motif of a windmile. This one stands first and foremost for the local Heirbrug windmill which is very close to the mural. It represents the benefits in life that we get from the headwinds that actually make us stronger for tomorrow. And convert it into bread electric and so on. Life is a party if we can transform all that wind into something positive and especially if we can divide it among ourselves with love.
We have also been selected by Streetart Cities, we are now in the final best Streetart world wide top 25 of December with this beautie .

There is a dragon in me that shows what I am, a dragon that wants to make itself clear to the world in color. a dragon that activates creation, it is a part of me and the core of who I am, but fear not, I am sweet and I am gentle, I am beautiful and have charming shapes. Stay honest and calm and especially yourself in my environment, be fair because otherwise I will fly to you to eat you in one bite, I will eat you raw, I will dance with fire around me, together with other dragons around me, I will protect the fire, I can breathe fire where necessary, I can also be sharp as a sword and I fly over the city and look down at what is happening in different forms of myself, I watch over the people while some portray me to fear . I am active in different places because I am the good wind in the city, I am the rain for nature, And I eat the sun and the planets, this is my meal. But above all I am myself and I remain standing in the storm around myself, even though there is sometimes a storm in my head because of the things I see. I was recently painting in the graffiti street at the Malifecent, where I was suddenly approached by a very friendly Frenchman, he turned out to be the organization of @weekendartistes_collectif
Shortly afterwards I was invited to this enchanting street art festival to do my art . I was free to paint on this beautiful piece of wall . That’s how I came up with an idea that had been playing in my head for a while. A big knight, and not just any knight, a knight on his horse . but then also with a suitable armor. I have been studying metallic objects and jewelry for a while and then also the necessary reflections that play of light and shadow . so I thought of placing the knight in a landscape with a mill in the background . and then also a second mill in the reflection of the armor that the knight is standing in front of . all in all this knight does not let him be knocked off his horse . armed he himself does not need a counterattack to show what he is capable of . an attack does not affect him because even in places where there are two windmills he is used to a lot of headwind, and so this knight and his horse continue their mission like a machine of forged steel.
A very big merci for the very nice 3 days and a bit of painting and the good organization and their very hospitable ways.
Also very nice to get to know all those artists present at a very unique location.

Vorige zaterdag stond de Jong Gewei bende op Openbare Werken met de performance FAT BOY!
Onze vette rattenkoning is de verzwelgen die overleeft door zijn soortgenoten op te vreten. Die is van metaal en legeringen. Van regeringen. Gevuld met kogels en met idealen. En wij hadden hem te pakken.
We stonden schouder aan schouder om het puin op te ruimen. Om zorg te dragen. Om hoop te vinden. FAT BOY was performance, een reddingsoperatie, een ritueel, een zoektocht naar troost en tegengif.

Last Saturday, the Jong Gewei crew was at Openbare Werken with the performance FAT BOY!
Our fat rat king is the devourer who survives by eating his peers. Made of metal and alloys. Of governments. Filled with bullets and with ideals. And we caught him.
We stood shoulder to shoulder to clean up the rubble. To care. To find hope. FAT BOY was performance, a rescue mission, a ritual, a search for solace and antidote.

As a child of the 90’s I was always fascinated by the cartoons on tv that I watched with my cornflakes in the morning on that old big television.
the commercials, the toys, those colors, in my opinion it was so well put together. that you almost had an attack to collect those cards. the futuristic neon manga effect of the 90’s is then also the predisposition for me to draw them. after so many years of drawing I came back to the old source and so I came back to pokemon.
none other than the legendary Mewtwo. that card that everyone wanted to have. it seemed almost impossible befor the existence of the primitive internet to have this card in your collection. but last year I caught it in the graffiti street in Ghent.
