It has been my immense privilege to help with the Local 706 Journeyman classes over this past year. I met Nick Fischer
@nicknowsmakeup when I was taking the Journeyman classes last year and was immediately impressed by his talent as well as his kindness and openness. As a teacher he is gracious and welcoming and as a make-up artist he has dedicated a vast amount of his personal time towards improving continuing education within our union. On top of that, he has also reached out to other makeup artists to bring a diverse and experienced roster of additional instructors to every class that he leads. Having witnessed these classes, the breadth of knowledge and expertise present is truly outstanding.
One such example of this is the addition of a prosthetics-focused class into the Journeyman training curriculum, an absolutely brilliant and important addition. For this class, Nick wanted to do a large prosthetic makeup demo and discuss the design process as well as the technical step-by-step process of prosthetic application and painting.
@rbfxprosthetics provided not only the pieces seen here for the makeup demo but also provided beautiful pieces for all of the participants to apply during the individual application portion of the class. In the interest of showing as much of process as possible, nothing was pre-painted or pre-planned for this demo and everything was executed live in front of the class with thorough explanations throughout of the products, materials, and techniques used.
I could wax poetic about this, but I’ll just say that I consider it a privilege to know people who are so passionate about makeup and invested in the continuation of the skill. 🖤🖤🖤
