The project’s third single, “Ira Louvin’s Inner Child,” follows up the previous singles “Medicine Hat City Slogan” and “The Terror, The Traitor and The Tastemaker,” and is named after the late country singer whose harmonizing act with his brother in The Louvin Brothers became one of the most influential groups of the 1950s. The song serving as a tribute that traces the emotional contours of Louvin’s life.

The Terror, The Traitor and The Tastemaker is now available on all streaming platforms.
The second single from my upcoming instrumental record A Different Kind of Energy, the track achieves some of my favorite moments from this session and record (accomplished by the band recording live, with some room for improvisation).
It’s a song about grief and spiritual warfare, wherein fear, betrayal and the commodification of good taste all become shattered.
Please also see the lovely write-up/review in @magnetmagazine for a more in-depth discussion.

It’s the year of the horse. Announcing “Medicine Hat City Slogan,” the first single from my ten-song instrumental record, A Different Kind of Energy, out April 17 2026 on @anxietyblanketrecords .
We recorded this album last year shortly after the fires in Los Angeles. The motivation to get it into the world helped guide me through an otherwise challenging 2025.
For a more extended discussion about the song and record, check out the write ups on @earmilk@americanahighways@chorus.fm .

Squeegees has been a band for a while. We started the project six or seven years ago, I don’t fully remember. A different time. The intention, if there was any, was to blow off steam and claim the title of “least ambitious music project in town.”
Present day, we’re playing @zebulonla this Wednesday 4/30, in celebration of our second album, produced by @trevorcoleman93 and to be released by @steadyhandrecords aka @total_heat_music_account that same day. @louiscaved and @adronical , both brilliant, are also performing.
If you’re reading this and are around that night, I hope you can make it. If you can’t, or don’t want to, that’s okay too. The real point is that I love making music with these people ✌️

Thanks so much for listening to The Politics of Personal Destruction! I’m grateful for the support.
It’s been fun to see the artwork as a small piece of the LA landscape this past month. Ephemeral and fleeting, in the lineage of Angelyne and others, existing in the world outside the doom scroll.
