This weekend for London Craft Week:
The Art of Making @theartworkersguild
6 Queen Square, London WC1N 3AT
Saturday 11am-5pm
Sunday 11am-4pm
ALL WELCOME
London Craft Week 2026 has been thoroughly invigorating and I’m looking forward to sharing, showing and chatting all things wallpaper and handmade this weekend alongside many talented artisans and makers at The Artworkers Guild. Talks, tours, presentations - an array of materials and techniques on show.
The week started with a brilliant panel discussion @pilgrimtrust@bard.scotland@soanebritain accompanying the “Slow Ways: Our Common Ground exhibition” at @artotellondonhoxton@slowways_
A symposium @Sothebys exploring the transformative power of craft: from visionary social initiatives to the role of making in global architecture and our relationships to the things we make - with panellists Kate Malone @firedup4clay Celine Vogt of @homofaber Crispin Kelly of Clay1a and chair @jamesfox283
An afternoon of workshops and talks for London based artisans of the @thehomofaberguide@cityandguilds
This weekend in London there is a huge variety of skills and expertise to explore as part of the london craft week programme and I’m thrilled to be part of such a vibrant programme and community
Next weekend 23/05 I’ll be hosting a form of my workshop “Celebrating the Splodge” - designing and printing with block print - at the brilliant @davidparrhouse in Cambridge.
We recommend a visit to The Joy of Making at the @artworkersguild in London this weekend, where artist and illustrator Nicolas Hughes @nick_qs will be exhibiting his handmade wallpapers alongside the original hand-carved blocks, tools and studio ephemera behind his process.
We’re delighted that Nicolas will also be leading a hands-on workshop at David Parr House on Saturday 23 May. Participants will spend the day designing and printing their own repeat patterns through drawing, carving and experimentation.
Nicolas’ work combines storytelling, drawing and craftsmanship, creating hand-printed wallpapers that feel both contemporary and rooted in tradition. His papers have appeared in homes and hotels internationally, and his work has been recognised by House & Garden, Country Living and the Michelangelo Foundation’s Homo Faber Guide.
This beginner-friendly workshop includes all materials, lunch from Norfolk Street Bakery and a glimpse inside the richly decorated interiors of David Parr House for inspiration. Book your place now via link in bio 🔗

Join Nicholas Hughes @nick_qs for Designing and Printing Block Print with Nicholas Hughes on
Sat 23 May 2026, 10.30am to 4.00pm
Limited spaces available - book now via link in bio 🔗
Spend the day exploring block printing inspired by small found objects such as a seed pod, a curled leaf or a favourite knick-knack. In this relaxed workshop you will turn quick sketches into simple repeat pattern designs and learn how to carve and print your own lino block using a range of mark making techniques.
Mistakes and splodges are encouraged so the session is perfect for beginners as well as anyone who has already tried lino carving and printing. By the end of the day you will create a beautiful repeat pattern you might not have imagined at the start.
A light lunch of pastries and cake from independent Norfolk Street Bakery is included and there will be a 15 minute opportunity to look inside 186 Gwydir Street during the workshop break.
Nicholas is an artist and illustrator. A Chelsea School of Art graduate, he is a member of The Michelangelo Foundation’s Homo Faber Guide of top European artisans and represents The Art Workers’ Guild (UK) at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Craft (APPG) as a wallpaper maker and block printer. He was included in House & Garden’s inaugural list of Rising Stars and a winner amongst Country Living’s 2025 selection of 40 Best Artisans.

Autumn colour!
Loved printing this design for a home in France - perfect for the space.
After sending samples we added a touch more orange to make the colour pop against the lovely timbers.
