Tiles - it's a very engaging and pleasurable task to create pattern from little blocks of colour or shape. At Waldo we particularly enjoy the task, and hope we are known for our attention to creating bathing spaces that are out of the ordinary entirely relaxing and supremely engaging.

Really our first proper job in the early 00's was designing @garrard for @jadejagger . The first of three Royal warranted jewellers we have designed since - followed by @wartski865 and @hamiltoninches . It was a steep learning curve at the time - you have to think about so much at such a small scale. Lighting needs proper expertise which has consistently come from @illuminationworks . Insurance, security and the handling of some nearly priceless items of museum quality kept us on our detailing toes. We are currently working on expanding @hamiltoninches in Edinburgh. The expertise we first gathered in this most intricate area of design has led on to retail concepts for @selfridges@fortnums@smythson and more royal warrants to include!

We’re proud to share that the @kimptonmainfrankfurt , part of our @fourfrankfurt , realised in collaboration with @hpparchitekten , has been nominated for Busche Verlagsgesellschaft’s “Hotel Property of the Year” award.
Located in Tower 3 of FOUR Frankfurt, the Kimpton Hotel brings together historic character and contemporary luxury. With interiors by @waldoworksstudio , every space has been carefully shaped, from the leather, mahogany and marble reception desks to the MAY Lobby Bar, Anni Brasserie, Lazuli Rooftop Bar and the guest rooms themselves.
This nomination is a reminder that great hospitality design is always a collective effort. Investors, developers, architects, operators and designers all help create places that leave a lasting impression.

It's starting to feel like time for some 🌞 . At Waldo Studio we are lucky to have worked in a lot of sunny places. In Mustique - a private island in the Caribbean, we were asked to renovate and extend an #OliverMessel house called 'Pelican' for a long time resident. We used @christopherfarrcloth fabrics pretty much throughout, and also our Melda rug from @christopherfarrdesign . The rug has a sea edge quality to it in this sitting room, which was fitting as the real ocean laps on a sandy shore a few steps away.
We have been lucky over the years to work with collectors and curators, who bring with them expertise and more importantly some brilliant art. Sometimes the art informs what we do in the room, and sometimes it just stands alone speaking for itself - which is perhaps the way it should be.

Working with developers can be really rather freeing at times, particularly when you are presented with a shell 29 floors up comprising of two floors and some of the most spectacular views over London. In this apartment we balanced the floor to ceiling with a faceted grey wall that reflected the views and changed in materiality as it went around the tower, from silk in the bedroom, to marble in the bathrooms, lacquer in the sitting room and veneers in the dressing room. 📸 @ruy_teixeira and @jamesjohnjetel
This project for the Beauty Hall @fortnumandmason combined a soft palette of veneers and marbles, alongside subtle shifts in detailing. For the display of glass bottles in the perfume area , we adopted faceted joinery detailing emphasises by subtle shifts in tone of timber to each angle. In the beauty room, we detailed the joinery with an English 'linenfold' front, softly reflecting the rituals of skincare. Pops of lipstick like tables pepper the space. The glass screen in the first image was painted with a design from #edwardbawden - the great Fortnum's illustrator. 📸 @ruyteixeira
Our samples library is both a great asset and a growing storage concern! We sample everything physically and present these samples - boxed - for each space. If a presentation must be online , then we ship the boxes to far flung places around the globe. This 'unboxing' zoom call with the clients can be difficult to choreograph across the void but it is normally met with some delight as we explain each combination and the whys and wherefores. . 📸 @rebeccasreid
