Our hearts have and will always be with Jamaica❤️ it’s been hard processing and witnessing the outcome of Hurricane Melissa which has fuelled us even more to do what we can. Recently @nextgenerationarchitecture was awarded the @jnbank @jncircle @thevoicenewspaper community fund award, where our intention was to host an event with also the hopes with investing in the opportunity for members of the diaspora within the built environment profession to gain the chance to travel to Jamaica and view and connect with the opportunities and prospects it has for built environment professionals within the diaspora, whilst this is still our intention, given recent events with Hurricane Melissa, we will be donating half of our award to helping buy material for rebuilding homes/structures in Jamaica the remaining amount will go towards our initial intent to host an event that will inspire, teach on the conversation of sustainability on the island where architecture is concerned and help direct the diaspora of the built environment on how they can bring their skills set back to Jamaica to invest in the island for the future. The future of Jamaica is in the hands of its people not just on the island of within the government but of everyone worldwide ❤️🇯🇲 Thank you @jncircle_uk for trusting us with our vision, we know even more now it and us as a community is needed together more than ever now .🙏🏾

We are excited to launch a sustainable design workshop in Jamaica, in collaboration with Angela Ford CEO & Founder of @studio_raw_origins where architecture, design, and built environment students will explore the potential of Plaster model-making as well as rammed earth construction as a sustainable building practice. Rammed earth is not only an environmentally conscious material but also a technique that aligns with circular economy principles by reusing natural resources efficiently. This workshop will empower students to incorporate such sustainable methods into their design process, promoting a deeper understanding of how architecture can support both environmental stewardship and resource conservation. Studio Raw Origins is a materials research-drive initiative that explores bast fibers, primary materials, geographic contexts, and traditional craft techniques within the UK. Through Studio RawOrigins, Ford has demonstrated remarkable achievements, showcasing her research on the cultural and historical connections between Jamaica and West Africa—an intricate and compelling display that conveys a powerful message. We had the pleasure of going to see the @bartlettarchucl autumn show 2024 where various students showcased their work we journeyed through various explorations, model making, visuals and an array of business cards The show consists of two concurrent shows The Bartlett B-Pro Show and The Bartlett Autumn Show – into one exhibition for the first time, showcasing the work of Master’s students across seven programmes. 5 floors later we were blown away by the effort and detail that students from Architecture and Historic Urban Environments MA to students from Landscape Architecture MA/MLA had put into their work. Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting @soundingthecollective [SOUNDING:]² where we were welcomed with thought provoking pieces from a array of multidisciplinary artists The aim was to amplify the alternative and often underrepresented perspectives in the field of Architecture. This evening did just that. As architectural designers, practitioners and creatives alike the multifaceted nature of what we do will always exhibit the beauty in the journey. There was such detail in this pieces that were performed, spoken and showcased. Over the london design festival @l_d_f_official period we had the pleasure of @poor_collective exhibition. There was an array of artists who showcased their work. All the work had so much depth and meaning and each piece spoke volumes. I particularly enjoyed @elfredadali piece where she captured beauty through such a transitional time in her life. Her decision to include all who came to the exhibition in that art of her journey was truly an honour. This was an amazing exhibition where there was so many very reasons to be inspired.
