As Lunar New Year celebrations light up cities around the world, Tibetan Losar 2026 begins—welcoming the Year of the Fire Horse.
To mark the occasion,
@new.project is reflecting on one of the most breathtaking works from the
@rubinmuseum exhibition “Reimagine: Himalayan Art Now”.
Suspended from the museum’s atrium skylight, “The Windhorse (lungta)” (2024) by Bhutanese artist Asha Kama Wangdi of VAST Bhutan -
@vastbhutan - transformed the space into a soaring meditation on movement, balance, and inner strength. As visitors spiraled up and down the Rubin’s iconic staircase, they journeyed alongside five majestic horses—each crafted from prayer flags and embodying an element and state of mind rooted in Tibetan Buddhist teachings:
- Yellow — Wisdom / Earth
- Red — Compassion / Fire
- Green — Equanimity / Water
- White — Purity / Air
- Blue — Endurance / Space
Five stories high and rich with symbolism, the installation invited moments of reflection, renewal, and connection—perfectly aligned with the spirit of Losar and the dynamic energy of the Fire Horse.
New Project was deeply honored to collaborate with the artists and the Rubin team, providing exhibition and art fabrication support for this extraordinary show.
Wishing a prosperous new year full of positive energy, life force, and good luck to all.
