From KoKo to Cornell, Maahi shares her story of how working with KoKo NYC inspired her to peruse mechanical engineering. Having seen what she can build at the KoKo Lot, we are super excited to see what is next for her!
There are still a few more spots open for this summer's Camp KoKo and Soap Box workshops. Sign up your kids today, and see where their problem solving, determination, and creativity can take them!! (Photo credit: Miho Suzuki)
If your kids have participated in a KoKo workshop, or you’ve attended any of our events, odds are you are familiar with Freddy Poey. (Also known as Mr. Mustache.)
At the @pasesetter Awards Benefit, Freddy was honored as one of five of the city's most innovative and effective afterschool educators. You can find his inspiring speech on the KoKo webpage. We couldn't be more proud. Rock on Mr. Mustache!
This Teacher Appreciation Week we are especially grateful to have such a passionate and creative group guiding our kids through problem-solving, risk-taking, and discovery.
There’s so much to explore and learn about at the KoKo Lot, and our Spring Party is the biggest public event we host there every year!
The Lot is our outdoor space where we host workshops for kids, including camp KoKo, boat building, house building, medieval times, and of course Soapbox! The Lot is also home to many artistic projects: a garden created with the philosophy of reclaiming urban spaces, a classroom built by participants in our Teens Building the Future Together program, and projects built by artists-in-residence over the past several years.
We hope you’ll come check out the Lot on Friday, May 29 (6-9pm) for the Spring Party and explore all the different things we do!
The Lot is located at 440 19th Street in Brooklyn, between 8th Ave and Prospect Park W. The nearest subway stop is the 15 St-Prospect Park F & G, about an 8 minute walk. The B61, B67, and B69 buses also stop on our block.
