Finally able to push out some work I did at the end of last year with Google Fiber in Raleigh, Kansas City and Austin. The idea was to show real world scenarios where Google Fiber was being used, but not always showing the product.
In Raleigh, we visited an apartment complex that had Google Fiber for its tenants. In Austin we visited the Thinkery, which is powered by Google Fiber and in Kansas City we visited acclaimed drag performer @missuchawi who runs the fiber network at their residence. Everyone who let us into their homes (sometimes with a video crew in tow) was super nice and hospitable and for that we were incredibly grateful.
We also visited the Google Fiber buildings in Raleigh and Kansas City to talk to employees about their experience with the company. It was great to see how comfortable a modern office setting like Google Fiber was.
A million thanks to @afcortes , @r2studios + @neuplot , @wittyinink , @heartlesley and the rest of the GF team, @macarenafreile and the team at Cien and finally the fantastic production crew who made the experience so amazing. Looking forward to working with this squad again in the future.

It’s the final countdown! 30 days ago I decided to embark into the unknown with this @kickstarter journey. Now, “Brooklyn is Burning” is 70% funded with 3 days to go! This is our final push, and we need your help to make it happen.
To me this is a political film told from the point of view of a once thriving music scene. I decided to do the Kickstarter because I feel the story is happening right now, and the state of music is changing in real time. If we wait, we might lose the story! We live in weird times and I refuse for this era to be “the new” normal; I remember last fall, going to shows, swimming in a sea of bodies enjoying all my favorite bands with all my friends. Now it’s all gone. I hope you feel the same way I do, and can help us tell this story —as open ended as it could be. I’m humbled by your appreciation and support. I will be eternally thankful. An homage to the landmark film, “Paris Is Burning”, “Brooklyn is Burning” is a new feature-length documentary created by @afcortes a visual artist whose work as a photographer and music video director has been featured in Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Stereogum, Consequences of Sound and others. He now turns his lens on Brooklyn’s rebellious, pluralistic music scene where Gay, non-binary, straight, Black, white, and Latino all are united in the mosh pits and dance floors as well as in the struggle against hate and racism. Crystallized in the aftermath of Donald’s Trump victory in 2016 and his attacks on minorities and LGBTQ+, the Brooklyn music scene coalesced to find its voice in its unwavering acceptance of their own differences and radical inclusion - a musical and political statement against the increasingly hostile status quo. Dani Miller of Surfbort, who has been called the “punk queen of NYC” and featured in a Gucci beauty campaign says in the Kickstarter campaign video, “Everyone plays with each other, everyone supports each other, and I think that’s really special.” Adds Black queer artist Dreamcrusher, described by FADER as a crucial noise artist: “Our audience is really weird kids who can’t find anywhere else to go, and they see themselves in us.” But when COVID-19 hit and shut down iconic NYC music venues like Baby’s All Right and Our Wicked Lady where the scene found its home, A.F. Cortés turned to Kickstarter to raise funds not only for his film project but also for the artists whose livelihoods have been impacted.
