Now live! Link in bio @zolajesus DESIRE. I’ve seen Zola Jesus  perform live many times in the past. Still, nothing prepared me to see the vulnerability of this piece unfolding as it was performed in front of my camera. It was visceral, personal, and profoundly moving. From that first shoot day, I knew I wanted to complement the live performance with a parallel story: A tale of grief, loss, and the capacity of a catharsis to overcome personal trauma. Thank you to the teams at Sacred Bones and Oblique management for their endless support and thank you Nika for your trust with this unusual project; In making this piece I wanted to capture a unique moment in time that reflects the vulnerability of the music. 🖤 PRODUCTION CREDITS: A.F. New METZ video directed by me. Link in bio for the full piece. All shot during quarantine on the rooftop of my building, with a small crew, keeping social distance, frequent hand washing and all sorts of old school filmmaking tricks. I’ll share BTS soon for those who want to take a closer look. Really want to thank Nicole, Cassandra, Sonia, Camden, Michelle, Diego, Nicolas, Javier and Daniel for your efforts in making this piece a reality. And thank you to Alex, Chris, Hyden, Alyssa, Jamie and Simon of METZ, Sub-Pop and Oblique for trusting me with your vision for this video. Thank you to the team at CREEM Magazine, and to Fred Pessaro, for this beautiful piece about my work. Seeing these pages is surreal. If you told me 20 years ago that the magazine where Lester Bangs shaped his voice would feature my work like this, I wouldn’t have believed it. It’s an honor to be part of it. And thank you to all the artists who have let me be part of their journey. GRACIAS 🖤 Available at Creem.com 📚📚❤️❤️

NOTHING at Roadburn Festival, Netherlands. Beautiful, sad songs. As they should be. Been listening to A Short History of Decay non-stop. 🥲

Honored to have two images selected for this year’s book. @american_photography_winners First: Jack of Native Sun, a portrait shot during the video I directed. Second: Bobby Liebling of Pentagram, while they opened for Acid Bath at Brooklyn Paramount. Thanks to the jury 🖤! Grateful to be included.

WU LYF in the dark. Barcelona. A small room, barely 200 people. I had wanted to see this band for a long time. Glad I finally did. Not that you could really see them.

Wishing the best to the legend. It looks like this might be the end of Godflesh performances. Their caustic sound will live forever. The first time I heard Streetcleaner, my teenage brain exploded. The pounding bass, the dissonant guitars, the relentless pulse of the Alesis HR-16 drum machine, and Justin Broadrick screaming “You breed like rats…” — my little brain couldn’t process it. I recorded the album from a friend onto a cassette — it simply wasn’t available in Colombia at the time — and listened to that tape nonstop on my Walkman on the way to school. It took me several listens to understand it: slow and heavy, in a time when “heavy” was defined by speed. The album cover was eerie, but there were no monsters. No band photos in the insert — just a black-and-white image of a woman staring at you. It broke so many rules of my little metal universe at the time. That record became my gateway into industrial and experimental music. Looking forward to whatever comes next with his other projects.. Jesu (if you haven’t heard Conqueror or Silver, stop reading this and go listen now), Final, JK Flesh, or something entirely new. (Photos from their show in Bklyn circa 2017)

ULTRAMEGA — one of the most insane acts I’ve seen since I got to Barcelona. Pure chaos. Made me think of Retox, The Locust, and early Dillinger. Caught them at one of my favorite DIY spaces: Blokes Fantasma. GRACIAS @badulario for the invite. 🖤 @ultramegaaaa 🖤🔥
