Y2 Architecture is excited to showcase the recently revitalised corporate offices for the William Angliss Institute at their La Trobe campus in Melbourne. Built in 1985, the existing offices had become outdated and in need of a modern redesign to improve functionality and align with contemporary standards.
Working closely with the Institute, Y2 Architecture undertook a detailed consultation process to define the project’s objectives and scope. The primary aim was to create a functional and innovative workspace for approximately 60 staff, tailored to support varied work styles and foster collaboration.
The redesigned offices center on a single-storey, open-plan layout that encourages connectivity and teamwork. Key elements include flexible workstations offering ergonomic support and adaptability, spaces for focused discussions and small group work and dedicated rooms for uninterrupted, focused tasks.
One of the standout features is the seamless connection to outdoor spaces, giving the office a relaxed, café-like vibe. This design element not only adds aesthetic appeal but also provides areas for staff to unwind or engage in informal conversations, fostering a healthy, balanced work environment.
Y2 Architecture embraced biophilic design principles, incorporating earthy green tones, natural materials, and ample natural light. These features, along with a provision of natural plants to support biophilia, create a welcoming and healthier workspace, highlighting its positive effects on mood, collaboration and efficiency.
We are excited for the staff of William Angliss Institute to kick off 2025 in their brand-new office space - an environment designed to inspire, support, and promote collaboration and innovation.
