HEAD OVER HEELS

Through the lens of my own identity (Nelke Cor Mast/ NELLY DANSEN) and the materiality of my physical form I've researched the beauties and the horrors of the life of a Bimbo. A lot of people have something to say about Bimbo’s lately, but have you ever tried being one?
As a natural born archivist, I’ve collected a big pile of footage of the Bimbo implemented in The Everyday. This is mixed in my film “Head over Heels” with staged material with the means to create a confusion between the real and the exaggerated. Just like how makeup can do that, you know?
Redefining what film is, and what film can be, was my Double Agenda™️. Switching from documentary footage, to scripted Big-Production-esque material to GTA footage (cuz sometimes you gotta source out to the digital world).
Stepping into Hollywood (literally, that is where most of it is filmed) but stepping away from the typical Hollywood-type-of-film-making takes shape in this feverish deconstructed chick flick that became some sort of zeitgeist document of the 21st century new age queer Bimbo (and for me personally: a celebration of the amazing group of people that I am surrounded with.)
A film with a plot that is pretty much plotless. Listen listen: it is a film about a big group of Bimbo’s who squatted the Playboy mansion in L.A. Nelly Dansen, the protagonist, is being called to fetch some lattes for her friends. And just like that, she flies off into the world…….. and then → A lot of stuff happens… jeez can’t a girl just go and get a coffee without getting bothered???

PROJECT XXX (00:27:00 min) is shot at NELLY’s 27th birthday party which transformed into a performative film set. What functioned mostly as a real celebration became a staged experiment in authenticity, spectatorship and collective performance. Friends arrived as lookalikes, detectives and media figures, while multiple camera perspectives documented the evening.
Simultaneously Mykel Furcoat, somewhere between philosopher and YouTuber, watches and comments on the event from his bedroom.

TBH nothing new under the sun, guessing that this whole news team is only after sensation; a few wigs flying around, a reocurring running away segment.. we get it now! And what is all this Escape Room nonsense hinting towards?!
Its a bit of a shocking ending at Creative Road (Literally)
Due to technical difficulties the footage has been partially corrupted.
But maybe that’s fitting… because what is Project XXX if not the corruption of a stable image?
Anyways, another question that keeps on lingering, is the film critisizing self-commification or is it exactly becoming what it critiques?
