Hello hello, happy May! Took an accidental massive break from posting on instagram as it feels overwhelming at the moment. I have been sewing and growing, volunteering for Local Colour in Old Trafford and teaching is about to start up again, tomorrow I’ll be running a botanical ink workshop for my faves @mycomanchester . I’m also running a weekend workshop for @hotbedpress in august, teaching screen printing on paper with natural dyes. There is currently a spring sale on my website, 50% off with the code Beltane2026. Go easy out there and enjoy the bank holiday 🌞 xx

One week til open studios @hotbedpress ! Come and see my immaculately clean and tidy studio 😅 I’ll have collages, prints and quilts for sale 💫 There will probably be some onion chat 🧅 x
Had such a great time on Saturday leading a foraging, botanical ink and dye workshop @plattfields_marketgarden for the wonderful @mycomanchester ! We gathered hawthorn berries, yarrow and bramble leaves to make some delightful potions. Massive thanks to everyone that came, for your creativity, enthusiasm, and for saying “wow!” at the correct moments! Thanks to @janezilla_attacks for taking some not at all staged photos too! I hope to return in the Spring for some more inky action.

We’re really looking forward to hosting @nellsmithprints for a day-long workshop all about making colour from plants in a few weeks time! It’ll be a relaxed and hands-on day of foraging, cooking up dyes and getting all inky 🖋️🍃
Perfect if you like the sound of experimenting with colour and getting stuck in with natural materials.
Saturday 26th July, 10-5pm at the Myco space, @plattfields_marketgarden . Tickets via our website.
Join us and printmaker Nell Smith in Mirfield for practical 2-day workshop exploring the potential of creating your own sustainable screen-print pastes using natural materials.
Over the duration of the workshop you will learn how to transform foraged plant materials, kitchen waste, and natural dye extracts into plastic-free print pastes, suitable for use on paper, and how to use modifiers to unlock the magic of natural colour!
Once made, you will have plenty of time to develop test images using simple cut paper stencils alongside your print pastes to create a range of designs for paper print!

Something a little different from us: a botanical ink & dye making workshop 🍃
If you’re excited by the ideas of botanical alchemy, wild colour and foraged pigments but have no idea where to start, join us for this day-long workshop with artist Nell Smith.
Nell Smith is a printmaker and textile artist working from a studio at Hot Bed Press in Salford. In 2023, she conducted an 8 month research project into natural dyes and pigments for screen printing, funded by the Arts Council. Her recent collection of prints, ‘Chroma’, explores the changing seasons, using natural dyes found, foraged, and extracted from plants.
🍄🟫🖋️ Tickets are £40-60 sliding scale, linked via our website. Limited space in our little workshop so grab ‘em while they’re hot!
100 acts of ritual, discipline, process and pleasure. Abstract drawings made with botanical inks: buckthorn, onion skins, red cabbage, camellia flower, oak galls & iron among other materials. Ideas for prints emerging…

Welcoming in the Merry Merry month of May! Beltane blessings my friends! Hope you have felt the warmth of the sun on your face and touched a tree or two. Today is the only day it’s allowed to bring Hawthorn in to your home - but be careful to thank the tree or the fairies might get you!!
I have been making ink from hawthorn, nettle and camilia. If you’d like to learn more about these processes, join me @hotbedpress or @wypw for sustainable screenprint workshops 🌳 See their websites for course details.
