As we reflect on #AACOSE8, we begin our #PartnerSpotlight series to honor those who helped make it possible.
This week’s #PartnerSpotlight features SOLUBAG AFRICA, whose continued collaboration reflects a shared commitment to environmental sustainability and innovation within the social economy.
At #AACOSE8, Solubag Africa once again played a pivotal role by providing eco-conscious materials such as biodegradable banners, bags, and other conference essentials. These were made from their revolutionary Solugown-material, a biodegradable, water-soluble alternative to plastic and non-woven materials. Designed to disintegrate in hot or cold water within seconds, these materials represent a major leap toward a plastic-free future.
As a World Environmental Solution Expert, SOLUBAG AFRICA continues to lead the charge in developing sustainable products, including PPE gear, surgical gowns, lab coats, masks, and packaging, all with minimal environmental impact.
We are grateful for their continued partnership and for helping make AACOSE a greener & more responsible space for social innovators.

“The good you do today will often be forgotten; do good anyway...” These words, shared by Mr. Adenew Mesfin, CEO of Social Enterprise Ethiopia , at #AACOSE8, are a powerful reminder for every changemaker.
In a world that doesn’t always reward effort, social entrepreneurs must keep showing up, creating, giving, and leading anyway. Because Africa’s future depends on those who dare to do good, regardless of the outcome.

What if the future of Africa’s economy isn’t just about growth but about who it serves?
That was the energy that filled the room on Day 1 of #AACOSE8, where changemakers, innovators, and thought leaders came together to reimagine a more inclusive, sustainable economic future driven by social entrepreneurship.
From the official opening by Prof. Mwania, Vice Chancellor of Tangaza University, to powerful reflections by leaders in the social enterprise space, Day 1 set the tone for bold, transformative conversations. Dr. Br. Jonas Yawovi Dzinekou challenged us to see education as a platform for real-world solutions. Mr. nyiringango pascal, Head of UR-Grid Innovation and Incubation Hub, reminded us of the urgency to create jobs for our growing youth population. Dr. Roselida Owuor, Director of Research Development at Ministry of Higher Education Kenya, emphasized that social entrepreneurship must be a mindset for all, not just a niche. Ms. Mendi N. director of KCB Bank Group Foundation called the theme of this year’s conference a provocation to build markets that serve communities, not the other way around. And Ms. Margaret Mliwa Director of Ford Foundation East Africa urged us to rethink models that leave the vulnerable behind.
As Dr. Br. Jonas concluded, everyone has a role to play, whether you're in government, foundations, financial institutions, civil society etc. We must act together.

Excited! 😄
We’re kicking off a new beginning-of-the-week series to share powerful nuggets of insight from #AACOSE8 — not the usual highlights, but the small truths that left a big mark.
These are the quiet lessons, bold reflections, and aha moments that challenged how we think about social enterprise, impact, and Africa’s future. 🌍
🔥 If it resonates, hit like, drop a thought, or share it with someone in your network. Let’s keep the conversation going.
Today insight: What if the biggest barrier to youth in agriculture isn’t money or land — but mindset?
To truly grow future agri-innovators, we must first unlearn the narratives that made farming feel like punishment.
We need to rewrite the story.
