Stepping into Spring. Some members of our Cape Town staff took an early morning walk up Signal Hill above the city to enjoy the joys of nature. They got in the walk at the end of last week - just before the rain returned!

Heritage Day is a special day in South Africa. Held on 24 September since 1994, it recognises and celebrates the cultural wealth of our nation of 11 official languages. At the Genesis Analytics head office in Joburg we annually make a special effort to showcase our diversity before the holiday.

A busy week for our Health practice at @Genesis_Analytics Following the two-day HIV prevention outcomes workshop in Gaborone earlier this week, the South to South Learning Network for HIV Prevention (#SSLN) held a strategic retreat to reflect on the past three years of implementing the #SSLN. We gathered key technical members of our SSLN and i2i team from Genesis Analytics and consortium partner University of Manitoba: Saul Johnson, Kerry Mangold, Ayesha Ismail, Parinita Bhattacharjee, Lucy Maikweki, Missie Oindo, Thomas Ofem, Mohamed Istiaak Khan, Lulama Lunika and Micah Fineberg. Earlier in the week the Gaborone workshop attracted 150 participants from 21 countries in Africa and Asia to share and learn about prevention outcome monitoring. The SSLN is an initiative of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition (GPC) with the vision of becoming the most trusted #SouthtoSouth learning and collaboration platform for HIV prevention. In Joburg our consultants Susan Aitken and Chloe von Widdern attended the annual Influenza and Respiratory Disease Surveillance Symposium conference. The cake celebrated 15 years of pneumonia surveillance in South Africa by the Centre for Respiratory Diseases and Meningitis and the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) of South Africa.

Last week was another busy week at the @Genesis_Analytics head office in Joburg. We welcomed a new cohort for in-person induction to the firm. The week rounded off on Friday with time to get to know each other better. That is the foundation of the belonging that builds our firm.

The prevention of #HIV requires collaborative solutions as resources are becoming scarce and competing with other priorities This was the message of the Botswana Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for State President, Goitsemang Morekisi, at the Global HIV Prevention Coalition (GPC) and @SouthSouthLearningNetwork for HIV Prevention (SSLN) HIV prevention outcomes workshop in Gaborone this week. Morekisi urged countries to work smarter by putting minds together, learning from each other to be able to make savings on the meagre available resources. “It is through collaboration that we can harness our shared experiences, leverage diverse strengths and build a future that is resilient, inclusive and prosperous for all humanity,” she said. The @Genesis_Analytics Health team is currently in Gaborone for the 2.5-day workshop on HIV Prevention Outcome Monitoring workshop organised by the SSLN and co-hosted with PEPFAR, World Health Organization, UNAIDS, The @GlobalFund , the Ministry of Health of Botswana, and the National AIDS and Public Health Agency of Botswana (@nahpabotswana ). Through this workshop, 150 participants from 21 countries in Africa and Asia will be sharing and learning about prevention outcome monitoring. The SSLN is an initiative of the Global HIV Prevention Coalition (GPC) with the vision of becoming the most trusted @southsouthlearningnetwork and collaboration platform for HIV prevention.
