A thrill to talk about press freedom with the legendary @lyse.doucet and to listen to journalists now living in Canada because journalism at home was too dangerous. Thank you @free_speech_centre for the invitation.

IDEAS for a Better Canada: Exploring Democracy from the Ground Up Last Thursday at Burlington Public Library, CBC’s IDEAS hosted a powerful discussion on democracy, intellectual freedom, and the essential role of libraries in our society.💡 Moderated by CBC journalist Nahlah Ayed, the conversation featured Lita Barrie (BPL CEO), and Meg Uttangi Matsos (Director, Service Design & Innovation, BPL), alongside Ira Wells (University of Toronto professor, critic & author), and an engaged community audience. This conversation reminded us that the fight for knowledge, access, and meaningful discourse is more important than ever. It was an insightful and compelling evening that left us all reflecting on the future of democracy in Canada. 🇨🇦 📸 Pictured (left to right): Lita Barrie (CEO, Burlington Public Library) Sabreena Delhon (CEO, The Samara Centre for Democracy) Meg U.
