ISIMO “Isimo” — meaning *situation* in isiZulu. This one is personal. It speaks to those moments where life gets heavy and uncertain… where you start questioning everything — faith, purpose, and whether there’s something greater guiding us, or if we need to return to more traditional ways of living. As the cost of life keeps rising, so does the weight of navigating it. At the same time, my eyesight continues to change, shaping how I experience the world and my music. “ISIMO” sits in that space — between doubt and resilience, questioning and acceptance. Produced and performed by myself. Out now. [/track/isimo](/track/isimo)

Just dropped a new single: "FUN’KWENZANI" “Fun’kwenzani” means “what are you going to do?” — a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately as the creative industry keeps shifting with technology and politics. This one is inspired by Jazz Hop and 90’s Kwaito, with sound design shaped by my recent trip to Nairobi — the energy out there really stayed with me. Hope it resonates with you. Listen here: [/track/funkwenzani](/track/funkwenzani) So… fun’kwenzani? #NewMusic #MxshiMo #Kwaito #JazzHop #ElectronicMusic #SouthAfricanMusic #NowPlaying

This Friday Zahabu x Kilele Summit (@kilelesummit ) stretches from London’s underground to the Swahili coast and Dar es Salaam’s peripheries as Youth (@youthmartin ) makes his regional debut alongside Pwani Tapes (@pwanitapes ) Residency’s live reinterpretations, Odd Okoddo’s (@odd_okoddo ) politically charged dodo transmissions, Mxshi Mo’s (@mxshimo ) forward club permutations and Sisso & Maiko’s relentless Singeli pulse. This also marks one year of Zahabu. Come celebrate the building of an institution! 🌻🌇☀️ FRI 27 | 4 - 11 PM The Mall, Westlands (Rooftop) Tix via @mookh.africa

Cheap technology and open access to knowledge have made building your own instruments more possible than ever. Yet most electronic musicians still rely on off-the-shelf tools, conventional interfaces, plastic hardware and interaction models rooted largely in Western musical traditions. . Philosopher Yuk Hui calls this out through the idea of technodiversity ,a reminder that technology is never neutral, and that music risks becoming flattened into a fragile technological monoculture. If we’re serious about inclusive design, we need a richer ecosystem of instruments, tools that reflect cultural difference, accessibility needs, language and diverse musical practices. . At Kilele 2024, Astrid Bin’s talk “It’s Never Just A Slider” compared commercial music interfaces to ultra-processed food: functional, predictable, standardized. She later led the panel “Outside the Grid,” exploring tools that move beyond dominant systems of design. . This year, Astrid returns alongside Angela Oduor Lungati, Adam Yawe and Mxshi Mo for a critical conversation on technodiversity, open-source communities, inclusive design and what more expansive tool-making can offer music makers everywhere. . Join us on 25th February at the creatives Garage from 3:30pm - 4:30 pm as we rethink the instruments shaping our sound . #soundandsolidarity #Kilele26 #RoadToKilele

Last year, the screening of "6SENSE" produced by @amilcarpatel__ @thisischriskets and @kamvacollective at Kilele introduced us to South African electronic innovator Mxshi Mo ( @mxshimo ) , offering an intimate look into his world and the realities of creating beyond sight. The impact lingered long after the screening, sparking collective resolve to make his presence at Kilele 26 possible. . Now, that intention comes full circle. We’re excited to welcome Mxshi Mo into a Kilele residency, where he’ll co-create new accessible instruments with the Instrument Makers Lab, take part in conversations across the programme, and bring his sound to the stage. . Catch Mxshi Mo live on 27th February at The Mall Rooftop #roadtokilele26 #kilele26 #soundandsolidarity

From 2020 to 2026… we’ve come a long way. 📈 To everyone who has been streaming, buying, and sharing my music for the last six years: you are the reason "Art Child" exists. This release is a tribute to that journey and the creative growth you’ve supported since the very beginning. Head over to @Bandcamp to grab the digital album and support independent art. Let’s make 2026 legendary. ⚡️ /album/art-child #ArtChild #musicevolution #BandcampDaily #2026NewYear
