BTS for “Palagoma” by Kenyan-German duo, ODD OKODDO — music video out now. I said yes to directing the video before I fully understood in what ways it came to me as a gift. Only when deepening the concept did I realise the music was a connection to my Luo ancestry and my German roots. Two distinct worlds made one. And Palagoma’s message carries what this moment asks of all of us: to be warriors in our values, in our authenticity, in our strength, in our gentleness. I approached the video’s creation as an initiation; I entered the work the way you would enter a sacred cave to meet your ancestors — you go when the ancestors say it is time, and you do not come out the same. Olith, the singer, in his human and spiritual form, is the conduit for the connection to our remembrance of our (spiritual) ancestry - for me, for my collaborators and for everyone who watches. Many of us may not understand what is said, but we know, because it speaks to our soul. A few ideas that guided me through the process of bringing Palagoma to life, “We cannot be scared in the darkness, because in the darkness we can see.” “It is time now, for our power, mine and yours to be known.” “I come as one, but stand as ten thousand” (Maya Angelou) And of course - “Someone who can fight for his people — that is someone who is a Palagoma.” I’m really grateful for the brilliant team and to work with Deen and Wael spearheading this! Album out June 5th. Check out their tour dates for late this month and June. Link to the video in bio. In 8 days, the music video for ODD OKODDO’s single, PALAGOMA, is released! It was a truly an honour to direct it in January. “Someone who can fight for his people - that is someone who is a Palagoma.” A pertinent message for our times. Conceptualising and bringing the song to life, spending time with and amping up musician Olith Ratego on set, and working alongside a brilliant team was an absolute dream that I am grateful for! 😁🙏🏽✨ It was great to work again - finally 😅 - with Wael Gzoly and Ahmed Deen of Cafe Luna Productions. PALAGOMA is out next week Tuesday 28th April 💃🏽🕺🏾 Thank you Sven Kacirek and Olith Ratego of Luo-German duo, ODD OKODDO, for this opportunity to collaborate! Follow ODD OKODDO on socials, catch their upcoming gigs in Kenya and Europe and buy the new album, Palagoma, out June 5th! And share with friends! 😁🎤🎶🎹🎧💿💃🏽🕺🏾 Team: Director - Philippa Ndisi-Herrmann @philippandisiherrmann Producer - Ahmed Saleem Deen @deenmeister Cinematographer - Wael Gzoly @waelgzoly DIT, Edit & Grade - Ahmed Saleem Deen @cafelunafilms 1st AD - Kanini Edith @itskanini 1st AC - Jackson Kang’ethe @jacksonkangethe Lighting & Grip - Gregory Kiwo @kiwomaole Lighting & Grip - Alphonce Tilton Lighting & Grip - Messi Tumbi Makeup - Sharon Chelengat @skinwithchelah Associate Producer - Philippa Ndisi-Herrmann Production Assistant - Diana Macharia @dee.dianam #Palagoma #ODDOKODDO #olithratego #svenkacirek @odd_okoddo @kacireksven

With the energy at Kilele 2026,you just had to be there to experience the Showcases. Something about nights like this expounded what Sound and Solidarity is! . Odd Okoddo (@odd_okoddo ) brought the room together in the most effortless way, part storytelling, part rhythm, part pure feeling. One moment you’re standing back watching, the next you’re pulled all the way in, singing along, moving, locked into the energy where culture met modernity. Like something old meeting something new and landing exactly where it needed to. . Kilele 2026 gave us those “this is why we show up” moments, moments that build the community! . #Kilele2026 #SoundAndSolidarity . PC: @shutterdust
