HELP SAVE BIRDY 🤍 KEEP PRINT UNDEAD We need your help. For nearly 13 years, Birdy has remained artist-run and independent, publishing 148 FREE monthly issues to the public, showcasing thousands of artists, writers and creatives across disciplines and around the world. We’ve never been behind a paywall. We’ve never been driven by an algorithm. Every issue has been built by hand, with limited funding and more heart than we can measure. Birdy is currently entirely produced and operated by two people - Jonny DeStefano and Krysti Joméi - who have also largely funded Birdy the past few years. We have dedicated our lives to the preservation of analog culture and creating free spaces for artists to have a voice and platform to shine in this world. Birdy has grown into something that now reaches tens of thousands of people. It has outgrown what a few people can carry alone. This is where participation becomes support. A vote that human-made, artist-driven, screen-free creative culture still has a place in this world. If Birdy has ever crossed your path, published your work, connected you to artists, sat on your coffee table, lived on your walls, or has meant something to you in any way, please help keep it alive. Print is still here. Print is undead. But it doesn’t stay here on its own. We need your help to keep Birdy soaring. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us. And thank you to all of our advertisers and supporters, our core dedicated volunteer crew of house writers, artists and distributors, and our subscribers and fans. You have kept us going all of these years. Please give what you can and spread the word. A small, collective act of kindness will save Birdy 🤍 Birdy GoFundMe: 🔗 (link in bio) /f/print-is-undead-help-keep-birdy-alive

If you’re in LA make sure to check out MutMuz gallery’s DEVO: THE FIRST 50 YEARS exhibit. We had a great time seeing the visual history of one of our favorite bands. I can’t wait to get my new piece, Untitled, by Chris Cuffaro showing the band seemingly fleeing from Pacific Design Center in 1987. #devo #devolution #mutmuzgallery

Crazy busy few days. Kicked it off with Mark Mothersbaugh (once again) at his Mutmuz Gallery in Chinatown for DEVO: THE FIRST 50 YEARS opening reception, along with Chris, Randall, Diana, and Jeff (thank you, Mark and @anitagreenspan !). Next up: the LA premiere of the new documentary, “Los Lobos: Native Sons,” by Doug Blush and Piero Giunti. I’ve loved Los Lobos since my college radio days, and it was about time a great doc was made about these music legends. Congratulations, Doug! (And thanks for the fantastic post-film concert/dance party from David, Cesar, Louie, Conrad, and Steve—I hadn’t seen the band live in a couple of years.) Plus, a damn funny Saturday night at Dynasty Typewriter for “The Last Jedi” Live Read, including my old pal Fozzie, the great Laraine Newman, Joe Lo Truglio (hadn’t seen him since Sundance), Taran Killam, Lou Wilson (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” announcer), Irene Choi, my old “Lost” colleague François Chau, Dana Gould (as Dr. Z), and a roster of other ridiculously funny performers. Thank you and congrats on another great evening, @cotnoir !

It was a treat to wish @tmpgaryleonard a (belated) Happy 75th Birthday in person at @mutmuzgallery this weekend. Gary has been documenting our beloved city for decades, and is an LA treasure of the highest order. 🥰
