We made a book – 20 YEARS FORWARD 20 YEARS BACK – and along the way we made a 20 year company.
I understand that a 20 year milestone doesn’t happen so often and it’s a moment to remember a journey, but I was more interest in celebrating what our community has achieved and changed over the last 20 years.
When the company was started, it felt like the infant days of The Internet. A time that spawned a group of inclusive sites like K10K, Newstoday, Surfstation, InFront and Design Is Kinky amongst other greats which bridged international creative gaps and expedited the expansion of ‘design’. The company name was a celebration of change. A invitation to evolve, for all of us. We, along with everyone and the world have. It’s been a pleasure having you a part of that journey.
I’m going to post some images and stories of this ‘permanent’ document, but by all means grab a copy if you want to explore deeper. We've invited some friends to contribute pieces, to comment on the past 20 years and what they believe is coming next, along with as many behind the scenes images from across the years that we could fit.
Thank you to Andrew Johnstone for bringing this to life with me. Thanks to the SP team for bringing 20 years of ideas to reality.

It took one hell of a pitch, but we eventually managed to convince @nike x @jacquemus we could coat a marble in plaster 14,324 times for their collaboration launch at @incu_clothing . Shame the range sold out in under 4 hours and now the area is baron…
Thanks for the opportunity! Looking forward to what we have coming up together. Great work team @semipermanent
I do not condone standing on desks! @pierretoussaint made me do it, and @colinjnagy made me talk about it (in his ‘Why This Is Interesting’ newsletter). Thanks @laheathy for bringing us all together. Link in bio.
Dear Lamborghini,
Would you mind if I made a small amendment to my (anticipated) tax return-fueled purchase of a custom yellow Aventador SVJ to one of those little kids models in the glass cabinet?
Best regards.
