The ongoing group exhibition marking the culmination of the @lababerlin Fellowship is currently on view at @kuenstlerhaus.bethanien . You can catch the works until 14 December, Wednesday–Sunday. My work, Ghost Army, is an installation centered on mosquito nets, sound, and text - a fragile environment suspended somewhere between ritual and funeral. It reflects on sonic warfare — how sound operates as a tool of control and fear. Part of the composition incorporates an instrument created by @mohamedchoucair , who recorded the sounds of Israeli drones over Beirut. The work also touches on the myth of Pashtuns as one of the lost tribes of Israel, and the absurd experiences of navigating Muslimness in Germany today. Grateful to have shared this fellowship and exhibition space with @zoeparan @ruthsergel @humeyra528491 @corytamler @guli__dh @nimrodastarhan @_____.nic @nazanin_bahraamii @farahbouamar @ioanna_lng Deeply thankful to @siwarkraytem for designing the poster; Sebastiaan for his generous help with installation, to the @lababerlin for their support, and to @kuenstlerhaus.bethanien for hosting us and providing us a shared studio space for the last 6 months. Please visit if you happen to be in Berlin! ✨🫶🏽

What a week of sleepless nights and unstoppable inspiration at the Forecast Forum in Berlin! Surrounded by so many creative minds, I felt fueled to push my work further. Grateful to @theoeshetu for his guidance under the mentorship field, “Shapes of the Unknown,” and to the entire @forecast_platform team for their unwavering support. This week marked an exciting step forward for my project, "Ġair Zāhir: Crocodiles, Shrines, and Water“, a 3-channel video installation, with a live music performance. This project was partly supported by the Kulturstiftung Thüringen. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this experience special Credits: Cinematography: @ivi_the_bandit , Simson Hermann, Zainab Nasir, Umar Akhtar Color Correction (and editing): @dizizhan Photos 1-4 by the talented @camille_blake ✨📸

I’m thrilled and honored to see my SAVVYZAAR radio show being aired on RADIO ALHARA—a wonderful collaboration that fills me with joy! Text from Savvy Contemporary’s post: First (Mon) day of the month, we are blessed to share the airwaves with @radioalhara again: Today, Mudassir Sheikh takes us through the mythical and critical fabulations by Saraab (@shanzroll & @owasim ), a Balochi Benju performance by @noorbenju Ustaad Noor Baksh, as well “Spectral Remains” by Omer Wasim. Invoking the presence of jinns to explore the textures and toxicities of air, the sound piece “Safarnama” by Saraab activates natural and sacred worlds to pay attention to the intimacy of toxic colonialisms. Borrowing its name from, and referencing the history of travel literature produced in the Islamic world, it traces the journey of a jinn through the extractive infrastructures of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. “Spectral Remains” thinks through memory, limits and ethics of representations, silences and gaps in official archives. The work uses queer, scavenger methodologies to make visible erased lives and histories of the Sri Lankan Civil War. SAVVYZAAR meets RADIO ALHARA in the air On Spirits By Mudassir Sheikh 19:00 Berlin time [20:00 Bethlehem time] Today on @radioalhara &&& echoed next Sunday on SAVVYZAAR #radioalhara #SAVVYZAAR #ListeningForward #radio #radioa rt #listening #communityradio #radiowaves #soundart #mon day#srilanka

This workshop invites participants to experience listening as an active, embodied tool for collective re-worlding. Participants dive into collective listening and sound-making. Through deep listening, they attune to their surroundings, record sounds on their phones, and explore how everyday audio can be transformed into new sonic worlds through playful sound experiments, rooted in memory, place, and shared experience, all the while attending to the subtle textures of their surroundings. Chōri Collective will be sharing our research as part of Time to Meet, an open studio within the @tanzfabrikberlinbuehne R.E.D. Residency 2025. @yuni_hoayun_chung @sisumon @mudeebakery 🕢 11.12. 2025 / 19:30 📍Uferstudio 4, Wedding 💎 Free entry. First come, first served. On the same day, other R.E.D. resident artists will start their presentations from 18:00, so feel free to come early and hang out with us through the evening. Please note that the space has limited capacity, so please try to come on time if you can! Come join us, grab a drink, and activate your chakras in this long winter 🧘✨ - - - How can Asian bodies imagine new rhythms beyond the flattened notion of “Asianess” in Europe? This question drives our collaborative research as Berlin-based artists—each shaped by distinct movement traditions yet often grouped under a single identity. This research informs Asian Wellness Centre, an immersive performance that masquerades as a wellness retreat, unraveling into a playful, critical exploration of Asian identity, migration, and healing. Using the language of New Age self-care, it reveals how wellness practices are entangled with colonial histories, bodily memories, and global flows of labor and spices. We approach wellness as a site of negotiation—where humor and healing meet exploitation and displacement, inviting audiences into a layered arrangement of stories.

Chōri Collective is joining Submerge Festival 2025 at @lakestudiosberlin ! In this summer, we‘re turning the table into a stage and inviting you to join us there. LAB | Aug 11–12 | 10:00–16:00 INSTALLATION | Aug 11–17 | 20:00 Register here: /uncategorized/submerge-2025-lab-registration/ In this lab, bodies become ingredients and power structures become recipes. 🥘 Through fermentation as method, the group will mix, knead, and reimagine the colonial rhythms written into us—asking: between human and non-human, space and time, what new rhythms can emerge? Chōri Dance is a live, multisensory performance where artists from across Asia embody cooking ingredients tied to personal and national memory. Through movement, video, and sound, they create a living archive of identity, connection, and transformation.

MEET OUR FELLOW ✨ Mudassir Sheikh: Mudassir Sheikh is a Berlin-based musician and multidisciplinary artist of Pakistani origin. His practice spans sound, video, performance, text, and radio, engaging with themes of collective trauma, mythology, ecological collapse, ancestral memories, and ways of remembering. Using interdisciplinary methods, he addresses socio-political issues in South Asia—countering amnesia and censorship through sonic and playful resistance. Raised in Karachi, his compositions blend field recordings, instruments, and voice, often presented in immersive installations or collaborative settings. Recent research explores Sufi shrines and water bodies as sites of communal belonging and unseen worlds. He is part of the Chöri Collective and currently a Live Works Fellow at Centrale Fies. He holds an MFA in Media Art from Bauhaus University Weimar, and his solo and collaborative works have been presented at the Istanbul Biennale, Colomboscope, TBA21, and the Oslo Museum. #lababerlin #deutscheislamakademie #künstlerhausbethanien #jewishmuslimexchange

From Oct–Dec 2024, I had the privilege of being the artist-in-residence for the Hier & Jetzt: Connections (HUJ:C) @hierundjetzt_connections program at BLO Ateliers in Berlin. Incredibly grateful to Irina, Christa, Özlem, Uli, Kristen, Soltan, and many others from the HUJ:C team who were so kind and supportive throughout this period. Special thanks as well to everyone at BLO-Ateliers @bloateliers who made this such an inspiring space for me to daydream, create, and spend time with myself. There were a lot of structural issues we were navigating.. on the personal front, I was dealing with a mountain of bureaucratic tasks while doing the residency, and at the same time, Berlin’s cultural budget cuts were happening. Yet, being in the studio felt like a sacred experience. It gave me the space to imagine where I want to go with my work. These pictures and videos are fragments of what I was up to: errors, flawed first drafts, and simply connecting with sound and seeing where it takes me.
