well, its a long one butt…coulda been longer: had to cut this down to 20 for instaflan attention span. a sensitive little reportage and band shoot, originally shot for @flauntmagazine when @globevco was (more widely known as) THE word on who to listen to here’s @mysteryjets 20 years ago :o when they were kids, and Blaine’s dad Henry was on bass, starting out from eel pie island. i’m inspired to post this while listening to their latest AWESOME new track (after a 6 year gap) ‘black sage’ looking cooler than ever, and sounding ever SO good huge respect to them and gratitude for lighting up the studio stereo today. was a grey and dismal day on eel pie island (a small, special place in the middle of the thames) back in 2006 when I shot this, roundabout their ‘making dens’ debut. album, but the energy on that island was palpable.

Not sure naming a parasitic wasp 🐝 after sir David is the most appropriate honor but we salute you anyway and thankyou for your long service educating us about the natural world and how we should protect it.

took snoop dawg for some hydrotherapy: swimming in the waves at dungeness.
took ourselves for amazing fresh sea bass and tatties at the fish shack.
(they don’t do fish and titties: it’s not that kind of shack)

thanks for all the wishes well,
NO thanks to the vet that decided to cut out the benign lump from his leg and 2cm round and under it, without waiting for the test results
(that would have meant we coulda left the lump or just removed it without a large chuck of healthy dog flesh)
Full boosting will resume soon.
Till then, the fetching inflatable ruff remains…

eye had commissioned nanaco to photograph herself for the article in @dazed we were doing on her music.
nanaco is an amazing singer, musician, photographer, poet and bread maker.
eye went to the hotel she was staying at, in london, to collect the photos and reached out my hand as eye introduced myself.
nanaco stared at my fingers, each of which was adorned with an eye ring 👁️
‘AMAZING!’ she declared and showed me the sketch she had drawn that morning after she had dreamed about a foot with eyes on every toe.
Wrong digits but it was clearly a sign that we would be friends forever, or maybe have always been friends who found each other again.
Over these years we have shared many happy adventures and times together:
in England (including searching for king Arthur’s round table) and in Japan: searching for the bosozoku and finding @_nobuyoshi_araki_
Eye really do feel that Nanaco is my sister.
Eye have a brother in Japan too: another great photographer @helloharuo_2
pretty sure eye was Japanese in a former life.
Can’t wait to get back there to see my Japanese family.

Beautiful @daphneselfe has sadly died, aged 97
eye photographed her in 2012 (here when she was 83!) for @oxfamgb and @ij_pr in a bespoke @atelierbordelle number by @creative_by_pia
Daphne was modeling as a young lady, had a long break and returned to be more successful than ever, aged 70.
she shone brightly and was a great advocate for aging gracefully: adhering to the philosophy that ‘a good smile is as good as a facelift’
