Cecropia moth (Hyalophora cecropia), which is recognized as the largest native moth species in North America.
These moths can achieve impressive wingspans ranging from 5 to 7 inches.
Thereās something quite fitting about seeing Jamie Bell in Half Man, a story rooted in Scotland. We shot him in @ladescargala tucked away in East Hollywood. Two very different worlds, both a long way from home for the pair of us.

Now before anyone sharpens their knivesā¦ yes, Iāve photographed him a few times, and no, he didnāt shout at me once. I mean, why would he. We both love Marmite.
He might not be everyoneās cup of tea, but then again I donāt like tea or football, so weāre already off to a questionable start.
What I will say is this, in the moments off-camera, the version you get one on one is a different bloke entirely. Engaged, curious, up for ideas, and more than willing to play along, which as a photographer is half the battle won.
We all have a persona we trot out for the world. Some louder than others. But behind it, thereās always a human just getting on with it.
So hereās to another year Piers. Keep stirring the pot, it keeps the rest of us entertained.

The sun was dropping fast across the dry lake bed, so we decided to add a bit of atmosphere. Darren jumped in my car and drove past us at a perfectly responsible and definitely unstated speed to kick up the dust and catch those headlights through the haze.
Sometimes the best frame happens when the plan is almost over.

Wednesday, I was hanging out with the rather serious professionals at Torchlight K9, having a little ālook-seeā for a self realized project Iād love to capture. Itās a different approach to capturing humans. My dig in is about understanding the flow. Also learning how to be close and not get bit.
Lovely dogs. Extremely committed. Very fast.
Running away is apparentlyā¦ not a winning strategy.

Some shoots stay with you. Two of the original Bellydance Superstars, photographed during a brief window of golden light. Managed by Miles Copeland, whose eye for talent shaped everything from The Police to this extraordinary dance movement, the project carried the same sense of precision, artistry, and edge.
My job was simple. Find the light for these sculptured artists.

This location wasnāt handed to us. I found it the day before the shoot, tucked away adjacent to the #Bowl. Concrete walls, fallen leaves, one overhead light. It felt like a ring.
No big production. Just instinct, a tight window, and the ability to move quickly when publication deadlines donāt wait.
