Providing compassionate, professional care to my patients is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do. Being able to support their long term health and longevity is an added bonus. #Teamokaro #patientfeedback #trustingynaecology #longtermcare

The weekend that this BBC News article by Anna O’Neill came out was an incredibly emotional one for me. In telling my story of this now almost 7 year David and Goliath battle for justice, Anna saw me for who I really am and helped me to find my place in the world again. She presented me as the ambitious woman I was before my Endometriosis diagnosis and brutal unfair dismissal from Accenture. The words in her article are my truth. It has been the hardest journey fighting for justice since 2019. There has been so much shame, solitude and sadness. I have gone from not be able to talk about what happened to me at Accenture to knowing that talking about it is the only way to find peace… …and make systemic change. @annareporting has stirred the nation. She has helped women across the UK who are disabled due to Endometriosis to feel seen and heard in the workplace; given us all a renewed hope. Thank you Anna for the care and attention you have taken with my story. For seeing that my crusade for justice is for all women with Endometriosis to be treated fairly in the workplace so that they can thrive in their careers. We’re talking about a revolution. I’m so grateful to everyone who continues to support me through this journey. Special mention to my gynaecologist, the wonderful Dr Emeka Okaro who performed my surgery, saved my life and continues to look after me. We’re stronger together. Onwards and upwards 💪🏽 #endowarrior #disability #rights #justice #action

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day. Every day I am reminded of just how remarkable women are. In every circumstance, their grace, grit and fortitude shine through for all to see. To care for women at some of their most profound moments of life is not just a profession it is a privilege.

Today I attended Penelope’s 1st birthday celebration. I had the pleasure of delivering Penelope, granddaughter of my neighbour and friend David 365 days ago. Her mother Genie, now his daughter-in-law, has been my patient for many years. Life has a wonderful way of reminding us just how intricately connected we all are on this tiny planet. #teamokaro

Labour takes everything from both parents, but moments like these give it all back . It is my pleasure and honour to capture the very beginning of a father’s lifetime of love❤️. #Teamokaro #firstmoments #GoldenHourOfBirth

@topefnr is honestly in a league of her own! 🙌🏾 I’ve had many consultations over the years, but never one where I felt like the one being interviewed. 🤦🏽‍♂️ I genuinely sat there wondering if I needed to refer myself for a second opinion! 😂. When she walked out of that first appointment, I was sure I’d just narrowly escaped a firing squad of questions and dodged a bullet so I took a deep breath, and moved on… or so I thought. 😅 Fast forward, and here we are: three beautiful deliveries later. Yep, she came back like a boomerang and trusted me with all three! 💛 Through it all, her husband Adim has been the quiet rock by her side calm, steady, and always present. 🙏🏾 In all seriousness, @topefnr , it’s been a true honour and a joy to be part of your journey. Each child has been a blessing, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me, again and again. Thank you for letting me walk this path with you. #teamokaro #portlandmaternity

They say raising a child takes a village, and for me curating that village started in pregnancy. Finding a team to navigate the pregnancy journey, especially after loss, to prep for a positive and healthy birth, and to rest and recover afterwards was something I was acutely focused on. I want to give a huge shoutout to my incredible family + the medical professionals who made this journey so positive and happy. My consultant @mremekaokaro heard my desire for an unmediated, natural birth with minimal intervention and told me he was focused on ensuring I came out of the birth feeling happy with how it went, with both me and baby being healthy and safe. I’m grateful for that. Yes he’s a surgeon but his commitment to helping me deliver without much medical intervention was unmatched - I couldn’t have done it without him. Birth is vulnerable, it’s raw, and it requires feelings of love, comfort and safety to progress. I’m so grateful I had that throughout from all those in the room. The lovely midwives who got a bit confused seeing two pregnant women in the delivery room (@_lucymayfinnegan 😝) who coached me, held my hand and helped me look after baby after delivery - what superheroes. My husband + heavily pregnant sister were there with me in labour and kept my physically and mentally strong. And my mum and dad - who have been with me most days cuddling their granddaughter, feeding us & doing anything we need. The best 💜 Swipe for my birth story —>
