PCOS has officially been renamed PMOS
And if you've ever felt like your symptoms didn't quite fit the picture you were given, this change is for you.👇
For years, the focus was on ovaries and fertility. But as @femalehealthdoc explains this condition affects so much more than that.
Fatigue, mood changes, insulin resistance, sleep, weight, long-term metabolic health all part of the picture that the old name simply didn't capture.
We've broken down exactly what's changed, so you can understand what this means for you.
💬 Comment PMOS below and we'll send this comparison directly to your DMs.
🔖 Save this for later or send it to a friend who needs to see it.
A huge thank you to Dr Nikki Ramskill, GP and women's health specialist, for helping us break this down, you can find and book her directly on Doctify via the link in bio. 💙

Save this. Read it slowly.
Skin cancer risk isn't one thing it's the accumulation of several factors over time. Most people have at least one of these and don't realise it matters.
☑️ Repeated sunburn, particularly in childhood, significantly increases lifetime risk.
☑️ A higher number of moles is one of the strongest risk indicators.
☑️ UV from a tanning bed is classified in the same risk category as tobacco and asbestos.
☑️ Family history of melanoma increases your risk, especially if it's a first-degree relative.
Understanding your risk isn't about panic. It's about knowing when to be more careful and when to get something checked.

Skin cancer doesn't wait until you're older.
Save this and send it to someone who needs to see it.
We spoke to @drrakeshanand , Consultant Dermatologist in London and what he had to say about young people and sunbeds is something most people have never been told.
Using a sunbed before 35 increases your melanoma risk by 59%. 43% of 18 to 25 year olds in the UK use them and nearly a quarter believe sunbeds actually reduce their cancer risk.
They don't.
Check your skin. Skip the sunbed. And if something's changed, get it seen.

What is Matrescence? 🤱✨
We often focus on the birth of a baby, but what about the birth of a mother?
In this episode of Patient in the Room, @dralice_gynaegp and @drrubygp explore the concept of Matrescence, the profound transition and evolution women experience when entering motherhood. Much like adolescence, it’s a period of massive change that deserves its own name and recognition.
Naming this experience validates the shift many new mums feel, turning an overwhelming time into a shared, understood journey.

Matrescence. You've probably never heard of it but if you've had a baby, you've lived it.
It's the term for the psychological, physical, and identity shift a woman goes through when she becomes a mother.
Think of it like adolescence, but for motherhood. Your body changes. Your brain rewires. Your sense of self shifts in ways nobody really warns you about.
It's not a word you'll find everywhere yet. But it should be.
If you've ever felt like you lost yourself after having a baby this is why. And it's more common than you think.
Save this if it resonates, or share it with a mum who needs to hear it. 💙

Matrescence. Say it out loud. Now try typing it, chances are your phone will underline it in red.
It's a word that's been around since 1973. It describes one of the most profound transformations a human being can go through; the physical, psychological and emotional process of becoming a mother. And yet most dictionaries still don't recognise it.
In the latest episode of Patient in the Room, @drrubygp and @dralice_gynaegp sit down to talk about maternal mental health and why matrescence and the language we use around motherhood matters more than we think.
We'll be releasing more snippets from our conversation over the coming days, so stay tuned, there's so much more to come.
@peanut and @tommeetippeeuk are currently campaigning to get matrescence added to the dictionary and we're here for it.

Cannabis and epilepsy. It's more complex than you think. 🧠
Medical cannabis has become one of the most talked-about topics in neurology and for good reason. For some patients with treatment-resistant epilepsy, cannabinoid-based medicines have shown real, life-changing results.
But this isn't a conversation about recreational use. This is about science, clinical evidence, and the patients for whom traditional treatments simply haven't worked.
The evidence is growing. The conversation is evolving. And for some families, this medicine has meant fewer seizures, more freedom, and a better quality of life.
It's nuanced. It's not for everyone. And it should always be led by a specialist. 👇

Late fees. Forgotten subscriptions. Impulse buys you didn't plan for. Sound familiar?
That's the ADHD tax and it's very real.
@drbradleypowell shares people with ADHD often face a hidden financial burden that has nothing to do with bad habits and everything to do with how their brain is wired. Executive dysfunction makes it harder to track deadlines, manage time, and stay on top of the small admin tasks that quietly drain your bank account.
It's not laziness. It's not carelessness. It's neuroscience.
If this resonates with you or someone you love save this for later or send to them to share the knowledge.
