Through a series of traditional Lithuanian Midsummer customs a maiden undergoes a powerful transformation. Beginning with a practice of fortune-telling, she throws a flower wreath on a crossroads - hoping to observe her fate later on in a dream. If she was merely a passive recipient of her written-in-the-stars destiny originally, she takes upon a more active role by engaging in the second ritual. The essence of the Day of Dew night’s magic - the search for the magic fern blossom. A blossom only to be found at midnight. A blossom that grants the power of omniscience. And indeed she finds it. She finds it at the bottom of the lake at the cost of her life. Her life as a maiden for she is reborn as a witch. Now we observe her in all her powerfulness dancing in the fields surrounded by the mist of dawn. Mist and dew. The dew from her hands has the power to kill. Nothing as it was. Night is short, transformations are everlasting.
