In the philosophy of Emmanuel Levinas, the face is the starting point of ethical relations between people. When we encounter a face, we are not merely seeing an appearance; we are experiencing a spiritual encounter with the “Other.” The presence revealed through a face can never be fully understood, because the Other itself points toward an infinite existence.
Born with asymmetrical eyelids, I instinctively covered my right eye—the one I never liked. I could never understand why it grew the way it did, just as it could not understand why people developed an unprovoked aversion toward it.
I fragment the right eye, allowing it to disperse across the surface of the skin like scattered pieces. The eye no longer exists as a clear and recognizable organ, but is transformed into a blurred, diffused form.
Once it is no longer perceived as a specific, identifiable part, it is released from the gaze that seeks to judge it.

Exhaustion
“Exhaustion” draws from moments of physical exhaustion during weight training. Under strain, the face shifts and fine lines emerge, revealing involuntary expressions. Breathlessness blurs perception, placing the body in a liminal, uncertain state. Through a series of SFX makeup looks, I focus on the edge where the body no longer performs strength, but instead exposes its weight, its limits, and its vulnerability.
