Attended my 3rd @timherronshooting Practical Performance class this weekend and wrapped it up with a Sunday match where Tim coached all of us. I am taking away a ton to work on and saw huge improvements vs last year's class. If you ever have the opportunity to train with Tim, I would highly recommend it. Managed to get his 73rd #BarrelPatch and a prize from @holosunoptics of a 507 Comp. Huge thanks to Holosun for being sponsors on Tim and providing the prizes! While the patch and prize are amazing (THANK YOU!!!), I really found the takeaways from the class to be the most impactful. I understand much better how to apply my sights and trigger confirmation in concert with each other to maximize the points collection on every stage. I'm not consistent yet on the application, but I had 2 great stages where I was able to show it in practice. The first stage video was all alphas In 10.96 seconds and the second was 3 charlies in 23.32 seconds. Nothing fancy or flashy about either run, just consistently high value points harvesting at a pace I can maintain without giving into the urgency to do the next thing. It was also a great class thanks to all the other students creating a fun and focused atmosphere where we all felt able to learn and grow. Had a blast with my boys @jave_custom_llc and @cvanhorn_ laying down some excellent runs in between joking around. Big thanks to @pewpew_pilot and @pew_nurse for hosting at @pimapistolclub . Always great to see some of my students turned friends coming out to put the work in too! @jacobsoncustomhomes and Mike V were crushing it. Great first match Mike! It was a great weekend with Gabe White out at our @diamondbackshootingsports range. I got my third Turbo Pin with 5 of 8 Turbo runs. We had a lot of wind on day 1 and a monsoon on day 2. The wind left me with no option but to prep my garment, which is NOT something I do enough. Got a funky draw on my second Bill drill which left me feeling rushed and I didn't get my sights for the first shot, leading to a Delta which absolutely killed the run. I was very close on my 2 Failure to Stop runs, but the Bravo/Charlie left me less than a tenth over on each run. Did decently on the others, but I really want to go 8 for 8 on these. As everything in life, nothing is guaranteed. I had a great time shooting with @tom.marshall.author again who helped get some great video. My boys Miguel and @nickietzm from the shop killed it too. All 3 earned their Dark pins. #TeamDryFire putting in some work. Had to give this one a quick try before a lesson. This was cold with only 3 dryfire reps before it. Good drill and just squeaked by with a pass. Get after it!

2024 Dry Fire Schedule

Black Belt Patch Standards - 2 out of 4 Ran a great bill drill in the afternoon run at the @modern_samurai_project standards. 1.88 clean. Another solid 3 and 2 as well at 1.91. Missed it low on the single shot at 7 and a bit right on the 25 yard shot. Both were about 2-3 inches outside the A. All of the times were within the patch times, so now all I need to do is clean up the hits to get 4 out of 4. Easier said than done, lol! Also was lucky enough to earn the chalice again with the bill drill personal times, with a 2.08 with a charlie high, followed by a 2.09 clean. That earned me a MSP holster from @tier1concealed as well. My 3rd win of the weekend was on the mini stage with a second run of 7.19 with 2 charlies (for +.25 each) for 7.69 as the overall fastest, even managing to sneak by Scott and AJ somehow. I was running my @waltherarms PDP compact 5 inch with @trijicon SRO and @surefire_llc X300 from my @tier1concealed MSP Pro Flx holster. Also added a @practical_performance_org recoil sping after some key words of wisdom from Scott and AJ. Huge thanks to the support from @cruzshoots @kline_jay @pldelapena @caseythejoejoe_ and all the other guys and gals on tbe range this weekend.
