Last weekend, we were honoured to have Reza Nik from @sheeep.studio join us in thinking about learning, creating, and existing outside institutional boundaries. Reza, his partner Dana, along with 3 other cofounders of @sheeep.school , are directing their efforts towards a more accessible and collaborative approach to art, architecture and education. Thank you Reza, Dana and Umi for making the trip from Toronto to visit us and share in this expo. 𝐼 𝒹𝒾𝑒𝒹, 𝑜𝓃𝒸𝑒 Images on silk, expanded polyurethane, tracing paper, ink jet prints, found objects, archival images. A glimpse at my most recent and ongoing work made @radio28cs in the heart of my hometown, Mexico City. In 2020, while researching my family history, I found a document stating that my paternal grandfather, who was still living at the time, had died in 1934. My project, I died once, began with this incident, which initiated a series of discoveries about my history as family members shared with me photographs and documents presenting me with multiple histories, not all of which matched the stories I had been told. This research became a way for me to connect with family abroad. I began conceiving of a body of work: a personal archival project concerned less with “facts” than with speculative histories, intergenerational gestures, and healing through an understanding of one’s own narrative. La participation et le soutien que nous avons reçus pour notre 4e édition ont été émouvants. L’équipe BM est honorée d’avoir accueilli autant de personnes formidables à Espace Transmission. Comme nous fonctionnons essentiellement grâce au bénévolat, la production de cet événement a nécessité de longues journées de travail pour beaucoup, mais voir la communauté s’épanouir est la plus belle des récompenses. La table ronde sera animée par Monse Muro. On espère vous y voir nombreux ✨ Paola Farran est une artiste et commissaire d’exposition basée en Jordanie. Sa pratique interdisciplinaire explore les liens entre écologie, identité et territoire, en s’intéressant à la manière dont les rapports de pouvoir et les structures héritées façonnent les paysages environnementaux, sociaux et institutionnels. Ashley Obscura est une poète, éditrice et rédactrice en chef canado-mexicaine dont le travail vise à promouvoir la poésie sur différentes plateformes, dans différents formats et au sein de différentes communautés. Artiste visuelle, commissaire et facilitatrice Mexicaine basée à Montréal, Monse Muro est à l’origine de l’univers visuel de Bois Magique. Ashley Obscura is a Canadian-Mexican poet, publisher, and editor whose work is devoted to expanding poetry across platforms, formats, and communities. Mexican visual artist, curator and facilitator based in Montreal, Monse Muro is the driving force behind Bois Magique's visuals. With tangibility and locality in mind, we partnered with Yannick, founder of Atelier Écluse to bring our idea of a printed publication to life. Yannick’s practice insists on traditional methods, on the hand-made, the human. More than before, making space for time-honoured techniques is an important form of resistance, algorithmic and otherwise. If you’re here, we hope this is something we can think on together. • Dans un souci de tangibilité et de localité, nous avons collaboré avec Yannick, fondateur de l’Atelier Écluse, pour donner vie à notre idée d’une publication imprimée. La pratique de Yannick insiste sur les méthodes traditionnelles, sur le fait main, l'humain. Plus que jamais, faire de la place aux techniques ancestrales est une forme importante de résistance, algorithmique et autres.
