❤️‍🔥it’s that time of the month.. february poetry and rage is in the air❤️‍🔥 seeing the city all snowed in makes me wish for the warmth of a crowded basement & the dreams we build in it💫 come get cozy with us for this month’s features… artist love is a rhythmic poet, fine art photographer, and creative storyteller. They bring a commitment to intentional connection to their music showcase: Rhythm & Art, and pull it into their own creative work, with visual and performative experiences that reconnect individuals with themselves, their relationships, and their surroundings. Molly M. Pearson is a writer, educator, and organizer based in St. Louis, Missouri. Her widely published work centers sex, identity, aging, illness, community, and the risks we take to survive and make life worth living. The power Molly brings to her words and presence is unforgettable; it lives in every mic she’s in front of and again in her work as a community organizer. metaphorical rj is a spoken word artist, poet and musician who is known for powerful, evocative, soulful spoken word and rhythmic performances. They have headlined shows and events around St. Louis, their work spans genres and themes, and explores deep complexities of transformation, vulnerability, and motherhood. i cannot wait to see these artists take over the p&r mic🎤 my thoughts this month are circling around a dinner party hosted by a friend on wintering together, in community. every news story is more dire than the last. and still: people are pulling up to outreach night after night, to protests in the pouring rain, in the cold. donating to shelters, to mutual aid, to friends. showing up. the places where we come together are vital. in february this unfolds in 3 ways… a winter drive ❄️ protest zines 🧊 connection 🦋 (check the comments 4 more) ❤️‍🔥zines @ 6pm ❄️poetry @ 7 ❤️‍🔥open mic -> l8 see u soon 📸 source images for the flyer by @ohimorgan

My mom would have turned 78 today, and if she were still alive, she would still be a woman living with HIV. Maybe more than any other time in my life, I wish so badly I could talk to her. It’s not lost on me that the incredible things I want to tell her about all have roots in her. She prepared me for my life ahead even as hers was ending. I am forever in awe that she was my mom. And, I am forever in awe of the tenacity and power of women fighting for bodily autonomy. If you are looking to make any last minute year-end donations, I invite you to support Positive Women’s Network. Since 2008 @pwn_usa has fought for ALL women living with HIV with an audacity that is rare within the non-profit establishment. You can make a one-time contribution to their year-end campaign, or you can join me as a monthly sustaining member. Link in bio!

I learned how to use a basic film camera and develop prints in my high school photography class. That was a full twenty years ago, and almost all of that knowledge had since left me. Until this year, as summer turned to fall, when @hankadelic.creative taught me how to use a Rolleiflex Automat camera. Over the course of three long photo walks over a span of about three months, I shot a full roll of film. My confidence and competence meandered at first. Our first one, I took exactly two photos. Our second, weeks later, I took one, after he patiently re-explained the function of each knob and number and button. Our third, a few weeks after that, I took nine, finishing the roll. Grateful to revisit this practice, after two whole decades, alongside someone who loves to freely share, with zero pretense or pressure, the things he loves with others. ✨ (@wombatstylee , number 10 is for you! Look closely 😆)
