we’ll be hitting the road next week 🚙🚦 It Probably Won’t Work, But It’s Good To Have A Theory, the forthcoming chapbook from chelsea tadeyeske @pity_milk , will be leaving the house, getting in the car, and making its way through living rooms, bookstores, cafes and basements of the midwest. this book lives in that tension: between hope and collapse, between wanting to be held and wanting to disappear, between the joke and the wound. it asks what we build to survive ourselves—and what we do when those structures start to buckle. catch us also the morning/afternoon of saturday, April 25 tabling at Print & Resist in Madison @printandresist —a space that feels deeply aligned with the spirit of this book: community-rooted, artist-run, committed to making and holding space even when it’s hard, even when it feels uncertain. come find us somewhere along the way. we’d love to see you anywhere. ✨ tour flyer by @poor_ridley slide two illustration @hotspider

27th FEB @oldenglandpub Detroit / Leeds n Bristol combo. TIX ON HEADFIRST @heinouswhiner + @alexiizaak Duo ( Leeds ) ******+******+*******++**+******+********+* This collaboration brings together two distinct but complementary improvisers. Alex Izaak Milling’s work, exemplified by his recent album All His Angels, foregrounds vocal multiplicity: layering, disjunction, and resonance are deployed to open spaces where devotional intensity and estrangement coincide. Theo Gowans (organiser of Territorial Gobbins nights + label) engages in an aesthetics of fragmentation, repurposing sound through interruption, reconfiguration, and unruly juxtaposition. In performance, the duo enact a live negotiation between these practices, using improvised vocalisation as both material and method. The result is less a fixed composition than an unfolding ecology and experiment of the voice “ Modulated vocals of drones and groans, big, round- mouthed vowels, a kazoo here and a shaker there set the tone. They emit guttural chants, breathless gasps and full-throated roars before finding their way to auto tuned baby cooing “ - The Wire Edie Roberts @squabtastic ( Detroit ) + IGH band *********+*++*************************+*+******* Edie Roberts is a genderqueer poet, performer and facilitator living in so called Detroit, MI. where they curate events & conversations while dreaming of fully-automated leisure utopias and the end of scarcity. They believe in self- publishing and making things for yourself; They lend hands and eyes and heart at @pity_milk Press and run a hapdash production site @bathmatics . Their writings have appeared & disappeared in such places as And So Yeah, Thunderclap Magazine, Anti-heroin Chic, DUETDUET, Ox Eye, Fine Print and others. Backed by Pablo Jimenez Moreno (electronics) @alicedyson04 (violin) & @ug.hit (drums) Cement @xx_c3m3nt_xx *****+****+*+*+***+**++ noisy girls making noisy music a new duo of @deadleavesl1e + @dryleaze @louienewlands ****+*+*+****** Freeform fahey-esque guitar improv. Alongside his solo work, Louie is a fixture in several Bristol + beyond settings including @eva____may ’s band and @double.pelican

January 12, starting at 7! We are so thrilled to announce a new series at DW, “Unruly Voices,” created by Heather Kays (@heather_kays ) In her own words: “A night of poetry that challenges the status quo and the systems that created it. Come hear these unique, sharp, bright voices speak hard and heartfelt truths.” The first show will feature Edie Roberts (@squabtastic ), Joss Barton (@ganjacum_ ), Olli Sure (@tsandabundant ) and Heather Kays. Each in their own way uniquely powerful voices, with the craft to go along to give their work extra depth. Get your feels ready for this, you’ll be all up in them, I promise. Following the featured poets is an open mic, so bring your own notebook/smartphone notes app/or back of a receipt you scribbled a few inspired verses on during a quick flash of inspiration! $10 suggested donation
